Xavier434 posted:Wait...what exactly isn't true? The 4.5 or the leak? I have not been following this stuff at all. The most recent information we know about the PS4.5 is from a super-secret internal meeting that one guy spilled the beans on. The following two things keep it from being 100% bullshit: - The guy was verified by NeoGAF as someone who would, at least, be legitimately part of such a meeting (although his exact details are kept private to avoid reprisals) - The Wall Street Journal has written about it, and they're not the kind of place which blindly reports unverified rumors. All of that being said, it can still be "true" but Sony hasn't necessarily committed to this plan, they could still silently 180, or at least the important parts (e.g. it could be a "PS4 slim" which plays 4K media but game-wise is identical to the current PS4). Or it can be one guy deciding to whip the internet into a frenzy for stock manipulation or "shits and giggles" for all we know.

Yeah ok. I have no reason to buy a PS4 before XV comes out so I might as well wait and see what happens between now and then, but this is all pretty loose ended stuff so I definitely will not be waiting unless a true confirmation emerges. Even if that happens, I will need to know whether or not it contains hardware upgrades that will noticeably improve performance. Besides, this game is probably going to come out on PC eventually so I can always throw tons of power at it then. Thanks for giving me the cliff notes version of the rumor.

I went round to my brothers house to play the Platinum Demo. It's a nice sandbox to get a try of the game's mechanics if nothing else. It kind of sucks as a complete package. The combat doesn't feel very satisfying.

The second squeaky hammer not only squeaks but makes an over dramatic shockwave too. I refuse to use anything else and wish I could fight the last boss with it.

Demo is fun, I can tell we're seeing only a fraction of the combat system. Once warp points got introduced suddenly the whole combat system took on another dimension and I think we're gonna get something really nice out of this. I felt like I had to fight smarter and actually anticipate when to use the dodge command before counter attacking and warping away; so you fight quick and agile. Good first impression. EDIT: Frame rate drops are awful and I hope they aren't going to be in the final game. IT only happened a couple times though. This game's lighting effects are goddamn gorgeous, in general it looks great, particularly the giant room. Carbuncle was cute, liked the little emojis. 8-Bit Scholar fucked around with this message at 16:26 on Mar 31, 2016 |

I found the combat in the old demo pretty cool, little getting used to but the ability to switch weapons fluidly for different attacks was cool

The game is supposed to have two separate combat modes that you can toggle. One is supposed to allow for a less "automated" style. Is that the case with this demo and if so then which mode were you playing?

I hope it does come out for PC and then I don't have to ever use the playstation ever again. As time goes on the purchase just keeps getting worse and less use.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," he said. "We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."

I've tried really hard not to be hyped for this but I just can't not love a project as stupid, huge, and insane as this appears to be. I want in. Gonna try the demo when I get home from work. The battle system looks pretty fun--looks like spells are usable items now and MP is just for weapon special attacks?--and I'm all in for this weird flying-car road trip with my anime bros.

I believe him fully when he says this too. What we do not know is how much and how long the developers have been working behind the scenes with an eventual PC release in mind even though they are clearly focusing on console optimization first. That is assuming a PC release is happening at all of course, but it probably is.

drat, this is pretty sweet. Wish I had known about the two other weapons and the air-dodging earlier, I'll have to replay the demo later and give them a try. I think that the depth in this game is mostly gonna come from the sheer variety of different weapons at your disposal, rather than complex button combinations and canceling and stuff. It takes some getting used to but I thought the boss battle was quite fun.

The demo runs like rear end, or maybe I was a little bit staggered after jumping in right after playing Resident Evil Revelations 2 (60FPS). It definitely didn't seem like a stable 30FPS. Combat isn't all that exciting, but its hard to base it off 30 minutes.

Yeah the game could barely handle its own size; when I made Leviathan appear, he drat near broke the frame rate.

I mean they did say beforehand that they're still working on the frame rate. Also the game's camera completely shits itself if you mess around with a pile of physics blocks.

The demo was okay, but the combat felt pretty clunky - I had trouble with locking on to enemies. I did gently caress around with the blocks and got really nice lag.

See, that's the kind of thing I want to see and the game should go a length to show you that you can do this and encourage it more actively.

I really hope they scale back a bit on the detail for consoles to achieve a solid 30fps, the demo struggled to keep up but the scale of the scenery looks great. It definitely feels like a JRPG though, with kinda clunky movement and camera controls. The only game out of Japan that really nailed everything on the technical side recently was MGSV. Fingers crossed they do a good PC port later so you can pile on the detail, draw distance and framerate!
