The "Not that it'll do you any good" part probably just means she has low opinions of Trixie's chances. "I'll show you, I'll show everyone" does sounds rather supervillainous though.

The buyer must be the witch who worked for the queen. She knows what's in the box because she put it there. People can survive in the balls for centuries, along with their personal inventory. I think it's a padded box with a ball of the old queen – either Petronella herself, having faked her death, or Imogen, Gemma, or Saffron (or even all three). And she could be carrying a number of balls of her own, containing her most trusted followers, each carrying more balls, and so on... it could be a nigh-unstoppable royal army in the box. But that raises the question of why they would do that instead of continuing her rule in her own time. Something powerful enough to overcome an army and a primo witch (maybe involving pacifist magic), or maybe this was a way to put the princesses and their forces in time-out after a succession crisis between them.

#54 Welp, I was completely wrong about everything except it being a ball with the power to overthrow the government (assuming Goordtryb is actually a god and not just your everyday giant frog).

#56 I was expecting a reveal that the god was possessing the frog and it was about to jump hosts and do something ghastly to the random adventurer-pedestrian. Instead we just learn that Aubrey is totally going to steal and read the diary and then do something dumb because of it.

Oh hey we found the plot. Neat. I am really looking forward to learning what the deal is with these super evil names. It better be Thorsby as heck. Maybe this is a land where the evil scheming fantasy villain won and then they just sort of made an actual country out of things.

gently caress, reading something so simple and flawless in a Thorsby comic gives me the heebie jeebies. Things are going to go wrong, but HOW? Also, nobody's mentioned Morgan Freetheirorgansfromtheirbodies. Looks like Thorsby's brought in the big guns when it comes to explaining complex things. #59 Goddamn, these names keep getting better/worse. I burst out laughing for way too long at panel 1. And I'm curious what Filthmaster's deal is, a skilled fighter randomly carrying a badass sword everywhere but living in squalor. The pipe might explain a lot.

gently caress, what is a slurd? I'm hurting my eyes trying to read the small print. It's almost legible except for the blurry parts and the inexplicable replacements like t with y, h with j, and maybe a few others. Yesterday a cult leader was (found) in an attic in a (nillu clyu???). He was the leader of the spider cult. The spider cult (wammy jaskng???). The cult leader was alive but unconscious. Audrey's my favourite character. The way Thorsby draws her with just this constant manic grin and her Punch and Judy face complements her characterisation so perfectly. Also makes me unable to imagine her talking like anything except a girl version of Beavis.

Similarly, I enjoy how the designated exposition character is actually super laconic, it's an interesting choice. Especially compared to Lostclock.

Either Klara had a huge lapse of judgement or she's done one of the terrifying things anyone in a Thorsby comic can do - take a direct route to a goal without any crazy bullshit. "Audrey will not help Trixie because she has all the money she needs. If she did not have the money she would help them again. Common methods of losing money include gambling."

I don't know, my money's on Klara just making the gambling thing up. Except she doesn't strike me as much of a liar -- she seemed to really struggle at passing herself off as the Queen to those summoned guards earlier. E: I've only just noticed that Audrey's reading a book called "How to run a tavern". Whybird fucked around with this message at 08:23 on May 10, 2016 |

Do we know Klara's sexual orientation? Maybe she's attracted to Trixie and wants to be near her and is ready to pull this kind of poo poo because of it. Seems like a Thorsbyian development.

What if she hadn't lost with her first ducat, given that she's super-rational and terrible at lying? I feel a fanfiction coming on. Oh no, thought Klara. I won. Now I have no excuse for losing money. She had started to leave when the moderately-drunk man who had been next to her called to her. "Hey, you can't go now! You gotta let it ride!" Klara stopped. "Excuse me?" "You've got good luck! You can't stop now! You might keep winning! If I were you I'd go crazy wondering if I would've!" She walked back to the table. "But every time the game is played the probability of winning is the same. It was already unlikely that I would win once." "...Ahh, that's quitter talk. Take it from ol' Jeff Liveimpalement. Let it ride!" Klara looked at the roulette. I wonder how popular this reasoning is, even though it is completely illogical. She tried reducto ad absurdum. If it were not, people would leave sooner after both wins and losses and this casino would have closed down years ago. She blinked exactly once. Klara walked into the living room. "I did something stupid." BiggerJ fucked around with this message at 06:11 on May 12, 2016 |
