April Releases:
Kazak Spetsnaz HMG
Reverend Healer Boarding Shotgun
Yaogat Multi-Sniper
Maghariba Guard (!)
ISS Starter (Zhanying ML, Crane Spitfire, Pheasant combirifle, 3 Celestial Guard)

May Releases:
Bashi Bazouks
Kosuil Assault Pioneers Boarding Shotgun
Xeodron Batroids
Uhlans/Tikbalangs (!)
Miyamoto Musashi
Onyx Army Pack (appears to be only previously released minis: CA starter pack, Rodoks box, drones box)

Some of those models look sweet, all April releases were shown, pics on Infinity forum, and Uhlans+Musashi as well. Looks like a very good couple of months, although nothing's on my personal shopping list. Really keen to see what ISS looks like after a wave of fresh releases and resculpts.

Everything is fully pinned save for the top antennas and 5 of the legs. I pinned one leg because I just could not get the angle right to sit flat. The others seem like there's enough contact for a solid glue joint, also pre drilled them all for base pinning when I get one in. Went for an F-22 canopy look, I think it turned out rather well.

I use a little pin vise to get a divot where I want the hole, then chuck the bit into my black and decker drill. Just taking it nice and slow, checking depth frequently.

Tournament Report incoming.

Yesterday was a big annual Warmachine, 40k,(and now) Guild Ball, and Infinity tournament. We played 400 Points, Decapitation, Safe Area and The Armory. At first I was really hesitant about going since 400 points didn't really interest me and my Haqqislam, but after adding up my Aleph, I had a nice 400 Point list that I was really into. I was also able to convince two of my buddies who started infinity in mid January to come along. It was my Yu Jing friends second tournament, and my Aleph friends first. Suffice it to say, we were all really excited to road trip down together and play with our space barbies.

We had a 12 person turn out with a lot of local regulars, and some new faces which was really nice. Every race except Haqqislam was represented. In all previous tournaments and leagues i've never seen Tohaa or Combined players, but at this event we had a Tohaa player and 3 Combined. Unfortunately I didn't get to play any of the aliens. The people here are all really friendly and while taking the game seriously, like to have fun and keep a friendly atmosphere making the game really enjoyable.

It was a two list ITS event, but I used a single list for every game(so did everyone else as far as I could tell). My list:

Open in Infinity Army

I took the extra 100 Points more to leverage SWC than to get a ton more regular orders for pumping into Achilles. The basic plan was use Achilles to get most of the work done since most of the missions were pretty heavily kill focused. Ajax was there as a secondary rambo threat, and the specialists for classifieds/catching my opponent off guard with their defense since most people deployed entirely just to try and stop Achilles. Everything else was there to be as big of a pain as possible in the reactive turn. Turns out, double TR remotes are really freaking annoying to play against.

Game 1: The Armory. Aleph vs Yu Jing(My friend that I car pooled with).

Table: http://imgur.com/m4zzD3Z

My friend and I have played a lot of flamstrike games against one another using lists that were pretty similar to what we brought to the tournament so I felt really confident about playing him. I won the roll off and decided to take first turn. I was given deployment on the far side(from the camermans perspective) and put my sniper on the stacker crates to cover my left flank, along with a TR HMG REM. My other TR REM was on the roof of the curved building covering my right flank. My plan was to rely on them to cover the flanks, while I ran my 2 TO Specialists, Achilles and Ajax into the Objective room. My friend deployed with a large amount of his army either in hidden deploy, or hiding behind scenery. With little to nothing in ARO i decided to just focus on locking down the obj. room right away. I used a coordinated order with Ajax, Achilles, my Post Human MK2 and Sophetect, to which he responded by revealing a oniwaban who had infiltrated next to Achilles(Forward Deploy L1). The oni went for an engage. This marks the beginning of my lucky streak for the tournament. On 2 shots, needing 6s, I immediately crit the Oniwaban, and avoided the risk of losing Achilles(Monofilament is rough). With everyone free now to take over the objective room i looted some adhesive launchers and grenades, and set everyone up at different entrances/corners in suppression.

My friends first active turn was brutal. He immediately decides to start taking out my ARO pieces with his Yan Huo and Hac Tao. His first order had his Yan Huo with a Hyper Rapid Magnetic Cannon first into my TR HMG at 33" range. He needed 11s to my 5s. The odds appear to be in his favor, at least on paper. Que a double crit on 5s to cancel all 5 of his hits. Thankfully, his doctor was a single order away, and promptly picked the Yan Huo back up. After 2 more rounds of shooting(I won the first one, but he made his ARM roll) he finally disables my REM. Changing focus now to my Atalanta Sniper proved to be fatal for him. With his Yan huo down, he decides its on the Hac Tao to get things done and brings him out of Hidden Deploy. The hac tao focuses on trying to clear out the objective room, managing to stop Achilles+Sophetects suppresion(I had them fail their guts check to slink back behind Total Cover).

Start of my second turn, I felt pretty good about the game. I had crippled all of his shaolin monks with my ARO pieces, secured 4 pieces of equipment, and was firmly in control of the objective room. At this point, I felt comfortable kicking Achilles into overdrive, and him wipe the floor of the Yu Jing, whilst simutaneously reviving my unconcious models with my second sophetect.

At this point the game was over, with a Smashing Aleph Victory(10-0, 400 VPs-0)

Game 2, Aleph vs Nomads, Decapitation.

Table: http://imgur.com/VjKUVTS The TO swapped the Obj. room with that Wall structure on the right for this mission. The obj. room was also no longer Infinity height.

I lost the roll, and my opponent took first turn. I Deployed again on the far side of the board, eyeing up that juicy sniper tower. I deployed with my Atalanta in the tower, focusing on the (cameramans) right, with a TR HMG REM in cover at the landing of the towers ladder, with a Myrm officer standing next to the Rem. He placed his Lt. Mobile Brigada, and 3 alguicils in the former obj room, to which i responded by plopping an HMG REM down in front of, effectively locking down his Lt. This game more or less came down to deployment. Being able to see who my opponents Lt was, and being able to lock down his heavy hitters with my Rems and Snipers made the game fairly easy. The only real threats I saw were his Gecko, and obv. HMG intruder.

His turn saw him desperately trying to deal with my remotes and sniper, but due to the board layout, and how he deployed, he wasn't able to really run up and get much done without multiple units getting an ARO on him. Most of the first turn was him failing to injure my rems with his gecko. He did eventually get my sniper to go unconscious, but I promptly revived her on my first active turn. After I revived my Sniper, i went about getting rid of the intruder and the gecko with one of my Rems, so that I would be more free to run Ajax and Achilles into the obj. room to deal with his Lt. Without realizing it at first, my opponent did a really good job placing units to defend the advance on the obj. room. Whilst not a lot of his stuff was looking at my side of the board, quite a bit was ready to ARO should I try a move on his Lt. Feeling confident in Achilles and Ajax, I decided to make the push, and had Achilles knock out some of his cheerleaders as I ran up the board. Somewhat funnily, while he never maanged to wound Achilles, he crit hacked a carbonite onto Achilles, and Crit with a blitzen. He also managed to land a flash Pulse shot too.

I ended my first turn with Achilles standing relatively out in the open, blinded, isolated, and immobilized. However, he was covered by my 2 Remotes and my sniper, with a sophetects Yudbot not too far behind. With much more firepower standing after the first turn, the game was more or less over. He made some desperate attempts with various units to try and make something happen, only managing to get a Data scan off on my HVT, and a miraculous crit on a REM. This actually helped me a lot, because Test Run was one of my 2 classifieds. Que turn 2 Aleph active turn, i managed to fix up Achilles with my sophetect, and with a Yudbot already half way up the board, went for my HVT Inoculation, securing 4 points. At this point, Achilles finished off the remaining Nomad forces.

10-2 , Aleph Wins!

Game 3: Aleph vs Araidna. Safe Area, 6-2
Table: http://imgur.com/Tl0jcqt

This game was a doozy. I played Hipster Occultist for first place. Ariadna wins the roll off, and takes deployment. I decided to take first turn. In missions like Safe Area I think its typically better to go for second turn, so you can last minute sweep a quadrant and score some points, but since Safe Area is only scored at the end of the game, I felt like I had a better chance at winning if I spend the first two turns trying to kill as much Ariadna as possible. I've also played Hipster a lot before in various practice matches and tournaments so I knew what sort of tricks and toys to expect.

I deployed on the far side again, and put up my 2 REMs on that high bridge at center span, with my sniper on the lower level, in between the crates. He succesfully infiltrated Uxia on one of the crates, out of LOS to my 2 remotes. Expecting this, I made sure to deploy so that at least one unit should be able to hopefully deal with her if she infiltrates around my Remotes. My sophetect was given said honor, and ended up letting me down. I made my discover, but failed to kill. I spent a second order, but Uxia managed to cover herself in smoke, killing all hope of ending her at that point. At least she wouldn't get a surprise shot on my remotes!

Hipster deployed a number of markers prone on the large buildings in his deployment, expecting all kinds of nasty surprises, I decided to put Achilles on the case of taking out dirty Ariadna scum. He ended up killing everything on the roofs save one Spetsnaz with HMG, in marker state. I ended my turn with Achilles in suppression looking down on his left side on the roof of the building.

Araidna turn 1 started with Uxia Running up, knocoking both remotes unconcious, but not before getting merced herself. This is when i started to worry. These were my best defense against the oncoming swarm of russians and Van Zant. Immediately following the removal of my 2 remotes, Van Zant comes onto the board, and begins to do work. Or, he at least tries to. After some very intense firefighting, and maneuvering with Van Zant aiming to take out my Sniper, my sophetect finally kills Van Zant(the same sophetect who failed to finish off Uxia earlier) . With Van Zant dead, focus then shifted to taking out Achilles. Some cheerleaders climb up the building, and engage Achilles at 7", meaning I needed 15s to hit with my spitfire, while he needed 7s and 8s. 4 Aros later and I had rolled 4-16+ rolls, and failed 3 damage 13 armor rolls. I was pretty chapped that after a long day of gaming, Achilles was taken out by a david esque kazak, and his mighty damage 13 Sling shot.

Not to worry, Ajax isnt too far away, and where Achilles failed, surely Ajax can succeed. In an almost comical way, Ajax dies in the exact same spot, in almost the exact same way during his second turn. At this point i'm very worried. The majority of my army is now firmly in my deployment zone, and his is on my left flank. I need to start securing zones now on my third turn, and hope my intelcom card maybe catches Hipster Occultist off guard. My plan at this point is to revive Ajax and have him secure the far right quadrant, or at least forcing the last couple orders out of Ariadna into taking back that quadrant. I also want to get a sophetect, and my Myrm officer into Base with a console so that I can hopefully secure the Major Victory(5 from more quadrants, 2 from consoles) since earlier he had taken his classified, and was safely in control of a console himself(2 points for Araidna). The same Sophetect who managed to sniper Van Zant from across the board, also managed to botch a cross board surgery at the eleventh hour and kill Ajax. With no command tokens left, I had to stand in awe of my luck. Now my only chance to win was to have my myrm officer secure Ajax's quadrant, and get into base with a console. With my last order, the Myrms ended a half inch away from the console, my only hope now is to dodge into base, and not die.

Ariadnas turn 3 saw some of the worst luck imaginable, with my Total reaction remotes critting his last couple of heavy weapons, and firmly securing me the win. With his last order, he manages to kill my sophetect, denying me the major victory, but netting me a victory none the less.

6-2 Aleph.

First Place:Me with Aleph, (8 TP, 26 Obj. Point)
Second Place:Morat Aggression Force(6 TP, 19 OP)
Third Place: Hipster Occultist with Ariadna (6 TP, 17 OP)
Fourth:My Yu Jing Friend(who won best sportsman despite being saltier than a the ocean during our game)

My other friend won the wooden spoon award coming in Dead last, winning a classified deck.

Overall it was a really great tournament, and I absolutely love this game. We had 12 people turn out which is pretty great considering it took place an hour(to 2 hours) away from the two closest major cities. I don't know if its just our community, or Infinity in general, but the people who play this game are incredibly nice, and a real joy to play with.

Congrats on the tournament win Mr. Squarepants! It seems like it was a blast.

My local area has been getting a bit more active - and I just finished building a little bit of terrain as an upgrade from Icestorm/USARF box set.

I played a really, really good flamestrike mission against Pan O with my Americans today. It ended in a 3-3 Tie as neither of us could make a WIP check on the central objectives to save our lives. (And we often died trying). I'm going to type it up tomorrow and post a link tomorrow or Tuesday.

We both were using some new untis. He had just ordered and recieved some Auxilia and an Guarda de Assaulto and I had just based and assembled my Devil Dog team. Needless to say they faced off in what proved to be the highlight of the match. Even though their fight was more of a side show to the struggle over antenna's. The crazy thing was that there were a few long shots that he needed to make (through a low viz zone, against targets in suppression fire and with cover) that he would just crit. Anytime he needed to roll a three or less, he did it. It was actually incredible!
