My neighbour baked some cookies for my dog. They were gifted to me with very specific instructions that I was to offer up the cookie in the bag to see what my dog would do. (My neighbours are retired and sweet and weird, so I figured I'd go along with their instructions.) I gave the bag to Cohen. She wasn't too sure what to do with it at first, so she just carried it around by the handles for a while. Then she stuck her nose into the bag and grabbed the cookie and carried the whole thing around like this for 5 minutes or so. Eventually she decided to get destructive and ripped the whole thing apart and got her treat.

AnimalChin posted:why it shaky? That looks to me like a grey poodle puppy, and yes, it's probably waiting for a treat. Poodles combine a great temperament with high intelligence, with the proviso that they're also the most sensitive souls in all the canine kingdom; almost any excitement gets them quivering like that when they're tiny, and they still do it to some extent when they're grown. My parents got a poodle pup for me when I was a child, and we all quickly learned that these dogs literally live to please, and that obvious human disapproval pains them. You can't just yell 'Naughty! No!' at a poodle, or it will have an existential crisis. On the other hand, they are the most teachable of all dogs because they bask in praise like a drug; there's a reason that circus dogs are almost always poodles. Our poodle could do that 'Lassie' thing where you say 'Bring [this person] here', and they do it (although admittedly, only within the house and garden, and with people she knew well -- not at a range of several miles, and with people she'd only just met). I really miss that dog .

Carnival of Shrews posted:... Our lab could do this, as well as go and get various objects, and direct your attention to problems he wanted resolved. So my mom used to put a sheet over his bed because it was easier to wash. One day, Gus walked up to mom and gave her his wrinkled forehead of great concern. He then led her to his bed, picked at a dirty spot with his teeth, then glared at her. His sheet was too dirty and he wanted a new one. He did poo poo like this all the time.
