Ojetor posted:If you downgrade Vader to Adaptability for PS10 you can give the Inquisitor PTL instead of Juke, which is my current Imperial list. PTL is so drat good on the Adv. Prototype it's a no-brainer. At PS10, Vader still outskills pretty much everyone besides the occasional Poe. I've been flying that list lately and having a good run with it. Then again, my local meta has a lot of ion turrets with low PS pilots that get shut down by the evade/focus combo.

The TO from the store championship I went to finished uploading things to some website called List Juggler (mostly), so now I can actually see what lists people were using including folks I didn't get a chance to play against. Some interesting things: -Not just one but two people playing double Firespray lists. -Only one person using the Ghost. -A scattering of TAPs, but only one person using the Inquisitor (who placed overall 3rd). One person flew a 4x Baron of the Empire list with Guidance Chips and Proton Rockets -Someone besides me actually brought Dutch Vander -Literally no Omega Leaders -Only the one list using JM5Ks -Noa Pestana, who runs this blog here and who I gather I just squeezed out of the top 4, was running an interesting looking four ship Rebel list of two Red Squad Veteran T70s and a Green Squadron A-Wing, all with Crack Shot, and a Gold Squad stressbot build. I kind of wish I'd gotten to play against it to see how it did.

Looks like Miniature Market is doing a spring cleaning sale if anyone is interested. They've got the TFA Core and Hound's Tooth going for $25 USD each, Falcons for $18, K-Wings for $12, and T70's for $9. Goes til Sunday.

I am new to X-Wing, but have some ships. I decided Scum sounded the most interesting since there's a lot of variety in the ship models. I am looking over the lists people have for a sense of what's good. I have a YV-666. Reading the card, Bossk sounds as though he is really mean to the opponent. Why do I not see many lists with him? Is he too expensive?

Yeah, in a nutshell. The 666 is one of those big, sluggish ships that die to concentrated fire due to their low maneuverability and agility. Bossk's pilot ability is definitely good, it's just that to really capitalize on it you also want to load the ship up with upgrades and consume a huge chunk of the list's points. It's up there for one of the worst ships to have left alive at the endgame; Almost anything else has too easy of a time dropping in behind it and whittling it down, so a loaded 666 is kind of begging to get clowned on. I definitely like it more as a cheapo trandoshan slaver with some combination like Dengar and Gunner along with any of the other really good scum crew for a more reasonably priced piece that's still pretty intimidating and can afford to bring more support along in the form of other ships.

Paired with a gunner crew then he can put out consistent damage for not too many points. You can add an weapons specialist as well as that works woth Bossk as well

Speaking of me not liking the T-70's racing strip, if I wanted to repaint it would I need to do anything in terms of primer? I'm not very good at painting, having only painted some TIE's for Armada, but this seems simple enough to do, as long as masking tape or something for the lines is fine to use on the model. Also are there any rules against using a repainted model? I also wish I was good enough to get Poe's proper X wing. Eimi fucked around with this message at 21:26 on Apr 5, 2016 |

They don't need primer, and you can paint them as gaudy as you like, it's only modifications to the model itself that have guidelines, if I recall correctly.

The lovely thing is that the guideline used to be "paint however you want, don't modify the model," which means that the "confusion" guideline potentially outlawed a bunch of /fo->/ln and /ln->/fo repaints that were perfectly legal before

Hey, If someone I'm playing confuses my TIE L/N as a TIE F/O because I painted it as an F/O then mission accomplished? I should only be using it as an F/O anyway. But it's not like I can't just not use it in tournament games where someone is easily baffled by its color scheme, because it's not like I don't have 8 other goddamn TIES. There are substantial enough differences in the overall design that you can easily tell the difference (different wing shape, hemispherical vs circular intakes, etc)

T-70 is a good space plane and comes with a nice mod for both X-Wings. K-Wing comes with Miranda, who is solid, and 2 copies of TLT, which is arguably the best turret in the game.

Red Ace(T-70) is really fun and cool if you're like me and into tanky things. Miranda(K-Wing) is in that same vein, she comes with an ability to either sacrifice a shield to throw another die, or throw one less die to regen a shield. And the K Wing has a natural turret and turret slot, so it's very Twin Linked Laser Turret friendly. I haven't used Ello Asty, the other T-70 ace, but he looks fun because you can just do the special turn the T-70 has constantly while unstressed. Asmodee says they think that online distributors are undercutting brick and mortar stores, so they want them to sell closer to MSRP. It's really hard to sit down and play a game of X-Wing with your friends at an internet store. Basically, online retailers can undercut local stores on price, which can and does drive people to purchase online. Which means your local store makes less money and goes out of business, etc.

My FLGS sells small ships for 14.99 and both Miniature Market and CSI were selling them for 9.50. Though weirdly, that same FLGS has an online store and they sell small ships for 10.50 there.

It's the "I want a place to play" that makes me buy at least a portion of my ships at MSRP from local stores (that aren't lovely ones I mean). Not EVERYTHING, but at least some. It's nice to have a place to play games.

It helps for me that Xwing ships are cheaper. I kind of agonize whether to buy Armada stuff from my FLGS since it runs you 20$ minimum, but I don't mind spending 15$ here and there. Now for something like the Raider or whatever that is different.
