so I am holding off on squats and deadlifts for a little while because of a minor back injury that I don't want to make worse. my gym is very well equipped with free weights and all kinds of machines, today I was doing bench, preacher curls and lat pull downs. any suggestions on exercises I can add in to my routines for my chest, arms (and possibly back) without too much risk of injuring my back any more?

Everything you do in a gym involves your back in some way. Swimming is the only way you can have some safe resistance and it depends on your injury.

I get that it's impossible to not use your back at all, but it's not that bad of an injury, I just want to avoid lifts which will have a high chance of making it worse, things like squats, deadlifts, OHP, bent over rows etc. seated or supported exercises like bench press feel fine as do seated curls such as concentration and preacher curls, also lat pulldowns felt fine today; standing barbell curls I imagine would be a bad idea. any other good seated or supported suggestions would be good.

Literally every exercise uses your abs and back though. Get a prescription for physical therapy or something, they can tell you what poo poo you can do and might even have some poo poo that's not at the gym or a personal trainer won't know to tell you.

I work 11 10's in a row, then 3 off for almost the past year and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Probably 85% of my eating or more is eating out. I'll never totally swap to cooking everything but I do need to get in the habit of it to save money and a better diet. When you work that much you really really value your free time, but I think I could handle cooking large batches on an off day, or maybe even a slow cooker recipe I can leave on while I"m at work. I actually did just get a crock pot. edit: I also went up 10 lbs in weight on my face pulls and my shoulder blade area is sore as gently caress. It's almost as bad as leg doms.

I also am not doing this for looks(well maybe a little), my workouts right now are very high volume low rest, but the end goal is to have a very big bench/squat/dl What were your lifts before you started roidin' and what are your goals? I'm 36 and i'd totally be down for some test, but AFAIK docs around these parts really aren't into "anti-aging" treatments. We have heart problems in the family (which I've already had a small taste of), so i'd definitely have to do it under medical supervision.

Zzulu posted:Brofessors claim that test will only murder your hair if you are genetically predisposed for thin/bald hair. So it basically accelerates the inevitable No this is pretty much true. Male pattern baldness is mediated mostly by DHT, a metabolite of testosterone. Increasing your body's levels of testosterone will increase your body's levels of DHT, speeding up the rate at which your hair follicles will atrophy and become dormant. Not to mention that some steroids are derivatives of DHT which would really gently caress your poo poo up If your hair sin't susceptible to the effects of DHT, you can juice your brains out and not lose a follicle. Much like bodybuilding as a whole, its all determined by your genetics. Some people cant look at a vial of test without getting gyno, acne, baldness, bloated, etc. Others can take every drug under the sun without even becoming hypertensive Aralan posted:The bro scientific method is pretty much to come up with ideas that sound right while you work out, then post them to body building forums. The more people parrot your theory, the more correct it is Bro science is as good as it'll get pretty much We'll never see much scientific research done on steroids used for bodybuilding because its unethical. The best you'll get are nancyboy studies that give 500mg test to some people for like 6 weeks. The only other thing we have are individual case studies on bodybuilders that developed heart failure at 30 due to high doses, untreated hypertension, and feeble bodies, and those are poor sources of information for a number of reasons.

And having long hair pulled back. I've always thought it was BS, and I'm losing my hair anyway. So gently caress it. Bald at 29? That won't be too bad. Gives me 4 more years to get jacked before I shave my head.
