Fair Hallion posted:serious question - what's your beef with Fenders correct me if I'm wrong Dr. F but it's mostly just fretboard radius? Ibanez keeps an extremely flat fingerboard radius compared to fenders' modern [sorta flat] and classic [not really at all flat] fingerboard style gibson is a bit flatter than fender but ibanez, warwick, PRS, etc. all run even flatter and very technical players prefer them for that reason, you can get the action lower and more consistant.

PRS is actually in between Fender and Gibson. Almost all their guitars have a 10" fretboard radius, modern Fenders are 9.5", and Gibsons are 12".

tacodaemon posted:Hey guys check out my new absolute favorite Internet video of an old bald man playing with himself I can't fault the playing. The video is chintzy, as is the backing, but the dude is clearly enjoying himself. Maybe a little less reverb on the guitars. that digitech thing seems useful for a very limited variety of music most one man band situations probably are gonna stick to just playing backing tracks off a laptop/ipad/whatever e: actually it just makes me think of wesley willis using the auto accompaniment presets on his keyboard as the basis for all his songs Alec Bald Snatch fucked around with this message at 08:57 on Apr 19, 2016 |

I think its main purpose is for home rehearsal and songwriting, not primarily playing gigs. I'm just annoyed at the guy demonstrating it and his playing. I've seen other demos that have really made that box seem worth buying, but this guy didn't manage that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8gOAzYchAE so this video qualifies as stupid music poo poo but omfg I want this guitar. It's a $800 Epiphone ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EDBHSBNH ) which makes me kind of hesitant. but honestly if I could spec out my dream Gibson, a silverburst '58-style V with blocks and binding would be in the top three things I would want

Faustus, is yet something intrinsically great about earlier Jems versus newer? You are an authority in my eyes and I need to know if a second hand black floral is s better choice than a modern blue floral. Alternatively God is dead and I should finally grow up and get a black strat.

# ? May 3, 2016 22:05 |

A modern blue floral is likely one of the Indonesian Premiums, which, while not bad guitars, aren't as good as actually MIJ Ibanezes

And the ARP got reissued too! Faustus, what's the difference between the Jems and the RG/S series? I have been bitten by the Ibanez bug and once I've finished buying a new house (boo being a grownup) I want an ibanez 7 to complement the other two, one each of the aforementioned. Is it just a matter of hardware or is there a significant difference?
|
# ? May 3, 2016 23:10 |

It's usually just appointments like hardware choices and signature pickups when it comes to the signature series in general. Supposedly they do use the slightly nicer wood for the high tier sigs, but they're all built in the same factory by the same workers.
