i think they saw little 12g caps of co2 like this: and said to themselves this but with lox they'd need something quite precise to do a metered phase change between liquid and gaseous and lol having that in anything that could fit in the housing of the gill also they don't understand lox lol, they probably should've thought about that a bit more before pivoting to the new lie quote:Hi. Why not to make special adapter for the cylinder to refill in regular scuba shop? air != oxygen and you can't compress oxygen into liquid above -100ºc or something anyway quote:You still have not answered my question as to whether consumers of the product will be able to fly with the O2 canisters on a commercial airline? loving lol, lox is blanket banned under any circumstances aboard commercial flights up here in canada, and from what i understand from the usdot cfrs it's also banned in the us. hoverboards are also specifically prohibited aboard flights by a bunch of airlines, which made me smile quote:I want to buy these, but I want to know how you plan to ship liquid Oxygen to US residents. Please explain so I can help fund. bonded carriers who are able to take on shipments of cryogenic liquids and gases charge an arm and a leg, and i think they only deal in bulk transport because no one has a use case for single serving caps of lox quote:A couple of sincere questions that really must be answered: aaaaaaaaaaa

apparently they're opting for a keurig business planquote:I contributed to the original campaign and I love the idea of your product. Myself as well as probably many others cannot commit to buy at this point because we have no idea of the cost of use, now that 02 canisters are needed. I understand what you are saying about trying to nail down the final cost, but if you could let us know a ballpark. Are we talking around $1 per canister, $5, $10, $20? That price makes a huge difference. The other question of flying with them needs to be answered. so like 40$ per 15 minutes underwater even if it doesn't freeze or explode your face off

the customers are also loving tools, i missed the most awesome replyquote:A couple of sincere questions that really must be answered: quote:Hi Mark, the liquid oxygen is kept in insulated containers (called dewars). These keep the oxygen in liquid form at a temperature of -170 degrees Celius. The container consists of a lower portion where the oxygen is in a liquid state and a smaller upper portion where the liquid has evaporated creating a gas. if you follow the regulations DOT then you can send them by air, and sorry we did delete you new message but that was a misstake, so i hope you are happy with my answer, have a great day quote:Thank you for answering, Saeed. Really appreciate you answering questions people ask. Could you tell us how long you can store the containers? In other words, if my friends and I order the Triton how long can we wait before we have to go use them before the liquid oxygen gets too warm? THANKS!

You guys have it all wrong, going all this poo poo totally works patent pending etc etc HOWEVER since it is impossible BY LAW to ship or store liquid oxygen we're hamstrung by LAWS STIFLING INNOVATION so we have to give up, big government keeping us down well we tried and we made it work but circumstances out of our control etc might be their golden ticket. e: you know like in the 70s some guy made an engine that gets 200 miles to the gallon and GM bought the company and disappeared it

do they make mini scuba systems with 1-2L tanks, as a sort of snorkelling assist system? i'd be in to that at the beach

yah, if you're snorkelling, learn to snorkel. if you're scuba diving, get proper kit.

Trig Discipline posted:note: using one of these for a snorkel-like scenario would actually be a really loving good way to pop a lung reason being that you're breathing compressed air, so surfacing (or just moving upward in the water column) without exhaling causes gas in the air to expand. that can lead to a popped lung if you don't exhale while ascending. same happens in scuba, but you have a buoyancy controller or dry suit to keep you neutrally buoyant so you don't have sudden changes in depth. if you're snorking around, you're going up and down constantly. forgetting to exhale at the right time just once could send you to the hospital or morgue pretty quick

related note: closest i have come to getting seriously injured diving was an uncontrollable buoyancy issue with a dry suit. i literally felt my chest tighten as my lungs expanded a bit, then realized what was happening and immediately exhaled as hard as i could. i wasn't hurt at all but i was for the rest of the day

Elysiume posted:uncontrollable buoyancy = start floating too fast to control and get super-bends? we weren't deep enough for bends to be a serious issue, but yeah it could definitely do that. you can pop a lung on compressed air in 5-10 ft of water though

in my case it was actually a slow leak of air into my drysuit that was making me more and more buoyant. i was dumping air at regular intervals but got busy writing on my slate for some transects we were running and didn't notice i was floating up. you tend to hold your breath when you concentrate, which is not a thing you typically notice. floating up + holding breath = bad
