How many times he pauses each episode to put on a manga edit saying "read the manga" on the screen? Or does he print them out?

Please give us a detailed breakdown of your parents' reactions to previous seasons of Jojo.

It's been awhile so I can't really remember a lot...

The interesting part is that my mom saw parts 1-3, but my dad only saw part 3, so even though my dad's favorite JoJo is Joseph he didn't get to see him in his prime (in other news, my dad constantly calls every JoJo "JoJo," so I have no idea who he's talking about sometimes). My mom knows a bit about other parts just because I've read the manga and have told her bits and pieces about different characters.

My mom's favorite part 3 character is Kakyoin and her least favorite is Holly because she was creeped out by her way of showing affection to Jotaro, while my dad really liked the Polnareff-Abdul-Iggy trio. As I said before, my mom liked the traveling aspect of part 3, and she actually really enjoyed part 1 over part 2.

I'll continue to share some of the interesting stuff they say, it's kinda cool to see a middle-aged couple's reaction to anime when they're basically never watched anime before.

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
Kakyoin just had the unfortunate job of being part of the Jotaro & Polnareff Show Featuring Joseph & some other guys, sometimes. I really would've liked if he got more chances to shine, Death XIII and Emperor/Hanged Man are my two favorite pre-Egypt fights and he got to be a cool hero in both of them. Not really sure why he got written out of Egypt so early, I guess it was just Araki finally deciding to make injuries actually count for something.

My girlfriend is a huge anime dork but somehow hasn't seen any of Jojo. She saw some of episode 1 and loved it even though she had no idea what the hell was happening, so tomorrow we're gonna start working out way through the whole series. But there's like 100+ episodes between Part 1 and Part 4, which is daunting. I don't mind watching ALL of them again, but if we decide to just speed through them since we're both adults with poo poo that we have to do, I'm trying to figure out which episodes are must-watch episodes and which can probably be skipped. I feel like a LOT of Stardust/Egypt can be skipped, especially Egypt, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas? I toyed about skipping straight to part 3 but part 1 and 2 are so good and you miss a lot of backstory, and there's so much backstory that all connects that there's no easy place to do it.

The first three parts are 78 episodes all together, not 100 plus.

You can just watch everything, but take some breaks, I guess? Parts 1 and 2 are pretty compact. If you're going to skip, going from the end of Part 3's intro into season 2 of Part 3 works out pretty well, although you miss some good fights that way.

and yeah we're not gonna watch 70 episodes all at once. i think she wanted me to watch paranoia agent or something so i think we're gonna swap back and forth

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
I mean you could probably get by skipping Dark Blue Moon and Strength and just giving her the summary. They're not very good or important. Jotaro's line about Impostor Captain Tenille pissing himself and it being gross because they're both in the water at the end is almost worth it though. I can't really think of anything in Parts 1 or 2 that would be worth cutting, they're pretty tight stories. There's an occasional scene here and there that doesn't make it into the anime but everything that happens is pretty important.

Best way to watch Stardust Crusaders the anime is to watch the intro, polnaroff introduction, J Geil, Iggy introduction then skip to D'arby and watch to the end. The pacing is so slow and there's so much filler that you can skip the rest.

DiU in comparison is worth watching all the way through provided they aren't going to pad every encounter out to two episodes because the filler is so weird and most of it ties back into the storyline rather than being instantly forgotten. Except the baby and the alien. That poo poo was just padding.

The episodes go by really fast, like how the manga is a pretty fast and straightforward read. I'm sure Bad Seafood can come in here again and mention about how none of the episodes are really "filler" and that they're important to flesh out interactions between the characters (and yes, this is specifically about Stardust Crusaders), so I'll just leave that there.

Ah, yes, the best way to watch the show is to watch the episodes that introduce characters, skip all the poo poo that characterizes them and makes you like them and then skip to the parts where they start dying. This totally makes sense, and is reflected in your spoilers about later in this part in the no spoilers thread.

For serious, the only real time savers are watching the recut version of part 1 and maybe skipping a couple of the nothing fights in part 3, Dark Blue Moon and Strength are two of them, maybe wheel of fortune and the sun, and then maybe Anubis and Alessi in Egypt. Everything else has really good establishing character moments or plot important stuff or whatever, and even the episodes I listed have stuff in them to enjoy there's just less of it. Really, you should just watch all of jojos because it's really, really good.

Also watch the dub of parts 1 and 2 because it's a treasure.

The only reason I suggest Dark Blue Moon and Strength as skippable is because not only do they add very very little to the characters that you can't get elsewhere, they're also just bad fights. At least Anubis and Alessi are entertaining.

Yeah, I was just being very generous about maybe skipping fights that don't add to the development of characters or the main story, and I also included Alessi because, well, that poo poo's hosed up and some people might wanna skip it regardless because of that. Now that I think about it harder, though, Anubis does establish the fact that Iggy is secretly the most competent and knowledgeable crusader, so it probably shouldn't be skipped.

That component of it was for sure gross but there are elements of it that are still kind of funny to me so I still think it's worth it unless you're avoiding specifically because of the pervo ape bits instead of "this is filler" (which is an argument I absolutely _hate_ with JoJo, sorry)
