I mentioned before that a clutch of senior Labour party members in Northern Ireland announced they where standing in the local assembly elections protesting the position of the national party not to field candidates, I thought they where standing as independents under a shared banner but they've actually registered their group (the northern Ireland labour representation committee) as a full political party - they where officially added to the register of parties on Monday. Considering the party's rule book makes joining non-approved affiliates and parties grounds for expulsion I wonder if a purge could be brewing.

Interestingly apparently they've been running a loss on shotgun certificates recently, and one of the arguments the BSSC used against a price hike is a lot of poorer rural people both rely on the certificate for farming/rough shooting and enjoy shooting sports, which seems to have been taken onboard, so there's another exception there. I think the shooting and fishing exceptions are because the Countryside Alliance claims members of all classes and the Tories are afraid of them because they rely on the rural vote and portraying Labour as metropolitan elitists for their existence outside rich suburbs.
