http://variety.com/2016/film/news/amc-texting-theaters-phones-1201752978/quote:Would appealing to millennials involve allowing texting or cellphone use? Its only a matter of time until you can use a hashtag for the theater where you are at and it will show up in a overlay for the movie you are watching. Anyway I am going to go cry now at my altar to Father Cinema, maybe the ghost of Orson Welles will fix everything wrong with this cruel dark world.

Going to the theater kinna sucks in general. It's not like everyone follows the no cell phone or no talking rule now. And paying $17 for a ticket ($21 for imax) when you can buy an HD digital version of the movie for quite a bit less is p dumb, so I'm not surprised AMC would do this.

They're going to allow people to play with themselves during the film, but only if it's an R or NC-17 movie.PBS Newshour posted:AMC will add an app to your phone that will tell you to just watch the movie whenever you ask something that is about to be answer in 30 seconds anyway. They should invent movie projection lights that reduce the contrast of the light from the cellphones and the dark. Or make cellphones that are readable in the dark but don't exude light like a TV screen.

I have a small independent movie theater in my town and it's amazing. I saw a movie literally by myself the other day. Don't discount the power of seeing a movie in theaters, it's powerful. Also lol who the gently caress buys popcorn.

If you live in a city you probably have a good smaller theater, if you live in anything smaller you have a theater that isn't going to be pack all the time for every showing. Like its not that hard to not have a bad movie experience.

if they want to appeal to the snakemen then why don't they just close down their stupid theaters since nobody loving cares about the loving movie theater

i agree, the best way to make it more appealing to go to theaters isn't to make the tickets cheaper but to make the theater experience worse for your customers
