I think I had the situation in the Clock Tower you were worried about triggering, and if I remember right there's two different buttons to press at the console to choose either the main mission you just started, or the other thing that brings you there.

And I agree, the next part is my favorite from the game too.

It feels like the APCs have 3-4 times the health I would feel comfortable giving them to avoid making the thing drag on, though having them take double damage after the escorts are down seems to help.
Also I wish we had a bit more of this Two-Face in Arkham City.

Harley looks a lot better without the mask.

Also, Batgirl's costume makes me think "GIRL ABS" really loudly.

So far Two-Face has been the best of the sidequests. A time limited predator sequence for all the loud takedowns followed by a nice slow regular one, and no bat-mobile until it's time to drop him off at the GCPD

Troy Baker's Harvey Dent/Two Face is great, shame he's so underused in the Arkham games.

I like the how the duality is done in this version. Harvey Dent isn't a good person, but he's more reasonable and articulate than the more violent and angry Two-Face personality. A lot of the time, it's more black and white split, so a Two-Face with a bit more greyness is interesting.

It feels like they're shoving four games worth of characterization into a smallish sidequest, but it's actually good characterization so I'm for it, especially after the "TWO GUNS BITCH!" treatment he got in City.

They'd be fine if they just had the less health that they seem to when you take out all the escorts all the time. If you get to the APC past them then you can finish the mission faster and everyone else scatters since they failed to stop you.

Yeah, one thing that doesn't make sense in some portrayals of Two-Face is that if Harvey Dent is still good why doesn't Harvey turn himself in every time he wins the coin toss? Having Harvey be criminal but with different tactics works a lot better for his character than just having him be a vehicle for the coin.

Probably because even if Harvey's good, just like most good people, he doesn't want to go to jail and/or Arkham. It's not fun, I hear.

So, can you have, say, Two-Face and Poison Ivy in the car at the same time if you time the sidequests with the main story right?

Nope, if Batman has a prisoner with him, he'll just say he has to take them to GCPD when you try to get out of the car. I don't think the Batmobile having two back seats ever comes up after ACE Chemicals.

Though I think there's one Most Wanted quest that doesn't require you to get out of the car, so now I'm curious whether that'd glitch out or just not let you initiate the final part.

You can't have any other characters than Batman, they'd remove the focus from him. Which will not do.

In this video, I noticed that our "sane" prisoner has the same chin, mouth (though unsmiling), and nose as the Joker. He's not that well after all, is he?

Second Time In Theaters/Polsy

Scarecrow Nightmare 1/Polsy
Lotta notes this time.

Ep 28 Notes:
  • Harley's gun is a work of art. Fuzzy dice, and Joker's face on the mag. :allears:
  • Good catch with the elevator thug. My guess is he was added after someone pointed out that Harley couldn't stay framed and visible in the center of the elevator and still hit the button to go back down. The thug's actually using a lower-quality model than the others in that little cutscene.
  • Joker's apparition is becoming healthier over the course of the game, and explosive get is starting to form the shame of a toothy grin. I love these details.
  • The movie studio is really nicely designed, including the exterior, to strongly resemble Joker's area of Arkham City. The similar use of discarded props is really inspired- and then when Harley sets up shop, the changes become more explicit. It's going to get worse before it gets better...
  • Just listen to all that unique goon dialogue! The enemies in the studio exterior are more or less one-time, but they provide information about the Jokers that you can't get anywhere else in the game. The same thing happens with each of the other Jokers, especially Bell. There's a ton of unique, excellent dialogue here that's really easy to miss.
  • An enemy that deploys sentry guns! Wow, that could be really nasty-sentry guns can be difficult to safely circumvent, making them one of the nastier predator obstacles in the game. It's a shame you get about 10 options to circumvent the guy placing the guns, making it pretty trivial to deal with them, and that they don't deploy them in a way that makes sense...
  • This is a general problem with the game. The rooftop predator section showcases a ton of really impressive enemy AI features the devs added- adaptive blocking off of tactics, verbal check-ins, intentional distancing. They just don't matter when you can take enemies out instantly with environmental features, or five at a time.
  • You can help Henry Adams up when you resume control of Robin at the end of the fight, iirc.
  • Again, the batcomputer is displaying a completely accurate layout of the studios.
  • The "Hudson" whose eye Bell scratched out was the minigunner we took out on the roof.
  • Dual predator sections just don't work. In practice, there's not a good way for AI to control the other hero, so it amounts to an automatic takedown that you get three times, and faster takedowns on minigunners. This is probably why it goes unused for the rest of the game.
  • Riddler presumably had some of Harley's goons set up the riddles.

Challenge Mode Notes:

One big note on early design in AK that I think was the cause of a bunch of problems this time around. I strongly suspect that many of the sidequests and challenge modes, like the Scarecrow Nightmare, were originally developed to be included in the main game. Partway into production, decisions were made about what to keep in the campaign and what to split off. This is why some of the setpieces of the main plot feel arbitrary, and why some of the sidequests are so undercooked. Scarecrow Nightmare was probably originally a bossfight that would come later in the game. It'll be fairly obvious when.

They could have made a larger predator map with two people and up to maybe 20-30 goons, and make it all Arkham Knight soldiers. You start off with a limited amount of different ways to hunt and the pack always learns and defuses the ones you used before. Add some high risk/high reward double stealth mechanics - like say have robin hold a line launcher wire that batman can use as a makeshift above take-down, but if its used too much they will see it coming and gun them both down. Put some actual tension back in the predator sections.

They had the pieces they needed to utilize double predator, but they just didn't care to because they decided car was the big gimmick. Everytime I look at this game, I just seem to find new ways to despise the car.
