So what pyromancies are the good ones anyways? I only have the ones Corynifex or whatever sells with the first 2 or 3 tomes, and of those the best one seems to be Fire Orb, which is basically just about the same as Great Soul Spear, and none of the rest seemed that great. Are there just really good ones i need to find or something?

Seriously what the gently caress, this guy casts a shockwave that can knock me off of the boss arena from halfway across the room? This is the only boss so far that I haven't had fun with. Just seems like a huge HP sponge with a ton of annoying gimmicks.

Just finished my first playthrough, now I look at the wiki... ending spoilers I happened to do everything right for the secret 'hollow lord' ending, but I chose the wrong thing after beating the final boss? I was supposed to choose the option indicated by "Link the First Flame" when I was specifically told NOT to do that by the lady who told me to marry Anri?

I'm trying to help my buddy kill the Vordt. We're playing on Steam. He's level 13 and I'm level ~30, but if we set a password that shouldn't matter, correct? He can't see my sign anywhere that I drop it. Is there something we're missing or is it just lovely/buggy servers?

Does Prince Lorian's hitbox feel fucky to anyone else? This is the first time a fight has felt like DS2, where I have to mentally divorce my dodge timing from what my eyes are seeing.

I don't think I understand how to deal with the knights in the rafters in the Cathedral of the Deep. I can't seem to parry them and there's no real way to dodge their attacks without falling to my death or eating a shield bash and I am very, very angry about it.

Those guys killed me like 10 times because I was playing bad and not using my head. I think the best bet is to lure them outside, where you at least have a little more room to work with.

I used bow and arrow to take out the crossbow knight and the sword knight. Doesn't take too many arrows and the sword knight, if you aim for the head should get thrown off the rafters to his doom if you hit him from the side.

The greatsword one fell to his death no problem. In my experience, he aims too low that it hits the bend of the rafter. I edged up close enough to hit his head repeatedly with impunity.

So I just beat the Lord of Cinder, and I see a bonfire that says "Link the first flame". Can I hit this, see the ending, then continue playing, or will touching it immediately boot me into NG+?

New players owe it to themselves to grab the Dark Axe off the early chest. Holy poo poo is that thing strong, I've been rolling with the Uchigatana and feeling pretty twinked but I just rolled an alt, got that axe and proceeded to just destroy the big fat first real boss. I felt bad for him it was really unfair, a full two handed combo does like a third of his health. If that was me I'd have quit the game.

I think I've been softbanned and I have no idea why. I see phantoms and messages but no summon signs and I don't get summoned anywhere. I even made a new character and couldn't get a summon at the very first bonfire after Firelink or at Boreal Vordt. I was softbanned in both DS1 and DS2 for editing save files but it ruined both games for me and I learned my lesson so I've played completely legit. I had a white buddy escort me all the way from the first ladder (which I unlocked myself before dying) to the boss room.  Then she got ganked by the fourth goddamn red phantom that session while I was summoning a second phantom to help with the boss, whereupon I got lucky and tagged the NPC phantom summon sign and booked it for the boss fog. RIP white buddy, you were the best. At least you got like twenty thousand souls.

I like this game for the most part, but it cant be said enough how absolutely poo poo faith builds are. I'm over halfway through with only one lord throne without its offering, and even the offensive miracle from one of the lords of cinder does jack poo poo for damage with entirely too long a windup. And it's melee. What the hell were they thinking? My blessed +8 longsword with occasional rebuffing Deep Protection isn't completely ineffective, but I know I'd be doing at least 25% more damage if I had just gone standard str or dex and used the uchi or any number of other weapons. Faith scaling weapons don't seem to exist outside of infusions, either. The one native B Faith scaling weapon I've found requires 18 int and is designed to cast sorceries. I've encountered multiple weapons that literally have "holy" in the name and have no faith scaling, but a faith requirement. loving From. I just wanted to shoot cool sunlight spears at stuff, but it seems like that's not what they wanted to have happen. Unrelated, but man I miss the weapons from Bloodborne. Can all Souls games from here on out just use trick weapons? Shortswords and clubs are boring. Pizza cutters and falconpunch drivers for all. I like the PvP stuff in this game but I am an incredibly dishonourable opponent cause I guess I've never felt like anyone in a From world would have time for that by the second zone or so. The first guy that invaded me got savaged mid-bow and then I usually just run around summoning bros or leg it to the nearest fog gate. So far when I've invaded its all been 3v1 outside of fog gates so thats just gunning for the host and hoping to get a combo off on him to rob him of an estus out of vindictive spite before he makes it in. I don't find dodging multiple players particularly hard but its a complete bastard to nail someone down who doesn't want to be hit, those two things are probably related. Being a cop is drat fun though, it turns the invasion on its head and now its the enemy phantom retreating from you and the host. This game is loving amazing.
