A 944's a really bad idea, right? http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5556870112.html I mean, I'm seeing radiators for $400, water pumps for over $300... but my wife really likes the 944 and I've got to say it's a fine looking automobile.

Thread of poor decisions They're ok if you get a good one but that's the hard part and as the models get faster and cooler they get exponentially more expensive to buy and to keep running. I just want to use one to see how much I like driving manual sporty cars before I settle on something bigger and fancier plus I have a 'pet' mechanic shop so I'm not especially picky about DD reliability. edit: NEO has a zillion nice/weird 928/944s too https://sandusky.craigslist.org/cto/5550293626.html https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5546495045.html https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5556617246.html JUST LOOK AT IT JESUS CHRIST http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-Porsch...=p2047675.l2557 Jymmybob fucked around with this message at 21:37 on Apr 27, 2016 |

Okay, but how often are you doing a water pump? 100k miles or so right? Unless you do a retarded amount of miles, that's a cost you'll have once every 7-8 years.

PCOS Bill posted:Okay, but how often are you doing a water pump? 100k miles or so right? Unless you do a retarded amount of miles, that's a cost you'll have once every 7-8 years. Good point... I just tend to check water pump & timing belt when I'm looking at used vehicles because I assume it's something I'll want to do soon anyway, but this particular car appears to have been owned by 2 different dentists (or whatever, I've always thought of a Porsche as a dentist's car) who have actually kept records of maintenance. 90,000 miles is the recommended water pump replacement interval. This car has 90,000 miles on it. If the owner actually followed the recommended maintenance and just recently replaced the timing belt and water pump, then it's not really a problem. Edit: He sent me the full maintenance history spreadsheet. I see timing & balance belt done at 71,000 miles in 2011, but water pump was done way back in 2002 at 66,000 miles. It was humor based on the fact that anybody listing a car or truck with a SBC or BBC claims it's out of a corvette. And that it has an RV cam for more torque.

I thought that "corvette motor" was hick short-hand for a 4-bolt main 350. Is there anything wrong with RV cams? I had one in my 327, and they do what they say on the box...
