I'm currently reading all the Local Jita stuff and absolutely everything appears to be a scam of some sort. If you click the contracts then nothing matches up with what is said in chat. It's quite crazy! Some guy is saying I want to sell 6 plexs for 6 million but if you open that contract it says he will give you 6 million for you giving him 6 plexs! So cheeky!

You know what's awesome about it? That sometimes goons set it on fire and Jita becomes.....

The way you can tell that it's a scam. Is not by doing the math on the contract. But the fact that it was posted in Jita local in the first place.

It's very funny to me! One guy even said press enter twice for a faster accept! He was claiming to sell something for 1.11 million, but the contract was 1.11 billion. Very, very cheeky!

What made Jita so popular as a place to buy and sell everything? Did CCP decide it? I need to get that history of EVE book I think.

It used to have the best mission agents so people naturally congealed there.

Over time the agents were removed to make room for more players and now it's a trade hub.

This (had all the agents from lvl1 to lvl3). But also this

quote:

It used to be that gate travel from one race's empire to another would always take you through a system called Yulai. This created a large local population there just from passers-thru. This traffic attracted merchants who set up the best-stocked market in Traquility in the stations there. This market in turn attracted yet more traffic.

This traffic caused server instability as CCP had not yet implemented the changes that now allow Jita to remain stable at such high populations. As a stop-gap measure, CCP changed the routing of the "Supergate Highway" so instead of 1 primary hub ( Yulai ), there would be travel 4 hubs, 1 in each empire. I personally think that CCP had hoped this might create 4 separate and competing market hubs, but this is only conjecture.

As I recall it, there were many wealthy merchants who were not happy simply allowing the architects of the superhighway to dictate their fate. They carefully selected Jita as their new home, and moved their markets there. They chose it for many reasons, and all these years later, it would appear they chose well, as it not only survives, but thrives even today.

So in the end, CCP did force a movement of the existing market hub by routing traffic away from the Yulai, but in the end the players chose to remain consolidated in one system, and players chose the location.

edit: and of course this

Jita used to have free cookies. No longer, but the crowd remains.

Thanks for that, it's really interesting to learn stuff about games that have been going on for a while.

I think it's safe to say that I am a big fan of EVE and thoroughly enjoying the time spent on it. If I was going to properly try an MMO, I feel I picked a pretty good one. A hour or so every few days and everything feels exciting still and I like that certain days I can look forward to spending some time in space when I finish at work.

I also had a strange dream that someone wanted to buy my corp! Good grief! :3:

Do not buy, sell, trade, or in any way interact with anything you see in Jita local. If it doesn't look like a scam, it's just a scam with mechanics you aren't familiar with.

edit: okay, so people got there first. I was just in a rush to make sure you didn't get scammed. Also, another one to watch for is people listing things for much more than normal, or buying things that are much cheaper. Sometimes it's easy to look at something selling for billions and think it's millions. Or selling stuff for thousands when you wanted to sell it for millions.

Probably not this early in your eve game life, but it's something to watch for. I think most people here have been caught by it at least once.

So why was wasn't pl forced to endure what they're planning to do to goons? Was it laziness, was money paid, was there another deal struck? For all the 'ruin your game' that seems to be the mantra for goons, why wasn't the final step taken to break and castrate PL's power?

And did no one really think that pl wouldnt be back one day if they weren't shattered?

After B-R we made a deal with PL that they were allowed to evacuate the B-R station and extract. In exchange they would leave the N3 coalition.

They did and so we murdered what remained of N3 and then went home to save Co2 from Black Legion.

Was n3 the lesser partner? Also wow, hindsight 20/20 and all but going home to spend resources on co2 and forgoing hitting pl more. That's got to sting.

N3 had more pilots as a whole but PL could field more fire power at a specific location on a shorter notice.

It's hard to "Hit PL more" because they base out of low sec. If they are not taking your fight then you won't be getting one.

How exactly do Armor Repair Drones work? I'm trying out a Logi ship for the first time, but when I launch drones, target another player and right click -> engage, nothing happens. The drones SAY "repairing", but the target's armor never increases. I tried both in and out of combat, and at least out of combat I'm very sure the armor wasn't also going down at the same time I was "healing" it. I meet all the Requirements on the drones. I also tried when the target had regenerated some shields as well as once their shields were completely gone.

Any of them. GoonSwarm with Hesiod has a lot of returning players, as does the Groon thread. The GoonSwarm Fed group also have a decent new player/returning player crew that helps people out.

I actually think the in-game tutorial videos that they added are pretty good. It's just a shame the game doesn't thrust them straight into the face of new players and instead forces them to dig through the Help menu to find them.

Click the "?" for Help which may or may not be buried in your top-left "E" icon, then click on the Tutorial Videos tab for these. Made by CCP, concise and quick, and should tell you 80-90% of what you need to know about the base game mechanics to do what is on the opportunities map.

I think it's more to do with bringing PL a fight has no downsides for PL, as more often than not- we'd absolutely take the fight.

Also- it's pretty easy to back out of a coalition we were never really formally a part of (N3) and continue the Tech/Rental Cartel isk printing (B0TLRD).

Um, you guys pick and chose your fights just as much as everyone else.

And there is always a downside, cause when PL gets their nose bloodied hard, they go ride bikes and give up the strategic goals. It's so normal that it spawned a catch phrase.

We're still engaging the same enemies and in the same area, so yes? We just changed staging systems because it would be really embarrassing if we lost our staging system and then had to pay some ridiculous ransom to keep our line members from losing all their poo poo.

Essentially we were going to make people pay rent to keep towers in low sec near our space. People didn't want to pay rent so we burned all of it to the ground and then offered other people to rent the same space. This caused low sec to unite against us. Good fights were had but then the rest of Eve joined them too and our space empire was toppled and now we live in low sec.
