Yeah I love it when Butterz do these deals. Can't remember what I got last time, but this time I ended up with the Shotta remix EP and that TQD single on Butterz, the Spare EP on Coyote and a Dusk & Blackdown single on Keysound. They even threw in an extra bonus too, the Jahovia 7", the E.M.M.A. and Rebel MC thing. So it's a win I think! Well worth picking up the deal if you've not already!

Got mine the other day, I got the new Rapid one on Butterz, a (second copy of) Keysound Allstars 2, Dusk and Blackdown - Dasalfex, and Lil Jabba - Scales on Local Action. Really feeling the Lil Jabba one, I totally missed it the first time around. Definitely well worth it.

Nobody should ever complain about someone having a packrat mentality. Especially if being a packrat means old Grime radio rips that get dug up after a decade. A kind soul has put up a whole bunch of sets from various pirates from 2003-05.

Get 'em here.

Though it's now making me feel old. I remember listening to some of these shows, some of these DJs, when they went out on air. Feels unreal some of these sets are 10 years plus. God knows where the time goes!

Yeah really digging this release. Will be picking up the 12" when it's in.

XL definitely seem to be upping their game a bit recently. Be interesting to see if they can keep it up. See if they can hit their stride again just like that other ye olde classic label R&S has managed to do over the past few years. That Hugo Massien EP they released a few months ago was solid. First piece of deep tech on vinyl? Only a couple of years late...

Already bagged it on redeye. Whitepeach has copies up as well.

Yeah XL has definitely been coming a lot stronger since 2015 started. The Mumdance x Novelist release was when I started watching a lot closer and everything they've been putting through all the good shops has been pretty good. Some more lack luster than others

The Special Request EPs, Zomby EPs, and now this Mssingno EP are definitely a direction I want them to continue in. I guess they can do a bit more now with all that Adele money.

Nobody should every apologise for posting a Moodymann track. And yeah, the actual House thread continues to be a pure disappointment everytime. How so many people can be so uncool I don't know!

Actually I suppose House is what I've been buying mostly the past year or two. Though a bit more on that Brukky side than any super straight forward thing. Gotta have the rhythms and occasional jazzy noodlings sorry, it's just what I dig! I've always said the legacy of that West London scene keeps reverberating around despite it being ten years since it's heyday

That might change. Eventually. Maybe. It was a hell of a lot more difficult to do what I originally had planned 5 years ago when I made the thread (5 years really!? gently caress sake...), which was have the tracks with the MC and the instrumental version next to it.

There wasn't much Grime on Youtube 5 years ago, and I actually don't have that much Grime on vinyl so I couldn't do what I did with say the Garage part or Broken Beat part where I did most of the uploads myself (hell I think I pretty much kickstarted Broken on YT as there was so little on at the time) so my original plan kinda caved in and I kind of got discouraged.

Though like I said I might try change that this year - though I may need peoples help for it!. Things have changed a bit on the availability front, with what's out there and listenable. Plus I dug out a couple of old Black Ops 12"s to upload a few months ago, so that sparked a wee something too.

The Dubstep one will definitely be coming though. A celebration of sorts for ten years since Dubstep's peak I guess, and I think the general term Dubstep is a lot more palatable then it was 5-6 years ago.

Plus I need to update all the dead links and removed videos. One of the saddest bits is on the original Garage primer, I think Confetti Records are still being iffy about their stuff online. I can put up proper rips of Burning and Plenty More, but I think they'd just end up being pulled. I get a bit wary of copywrite strikes now ever since I lost a DJ Junk video when that Hardcore Junglism shop popped up and started flinging claims about. Which I still think is bollocks as I doubt they even own the copywrite, they sell the tunes but don't own the copywrite so I don't get how they were allowed to get away with that! Anyway that's an entirely different story...

There's never been that much UKG stuff actually online to download. Juno Download has the Ice Cream Records and Nice 'n' Ripe back catalogue up though, with the latters many sublabels like Zest 4 Life, Deep Trouble etc online too. Digital-Tunes.net has the Ice Cream records stuff on there too, plus they have the contemporary labels like L2S and Slime.

Funky I honestly couldn't tell you if anywhere has that for sale, barring a few compilations from the time. Way back in the day there used to be one main site that I remember sold mp3s. I want to say it was something like ukfunky.net. Long since gone though, so that's no good.

I think that's about it as far as I know, though folk who bother with the digital download thing will probably know better and might be able to give you a better idea.

bandulu has always been hard to get. they even talk about it in an idle hands video about keeping it difficult. how you gotta follow the scene or some poo poo so you can buy the record within the hour of it going online. you'd think they'd be pressing boat loads considering how fast they sell out and how many people try to buy it second hand but i guess not

Agreed. If you're gonna only press 300-400 and not do a digital. No sympathy.

I'd say that file sharing probably promotes record sales more than anything. If you love a tune that is a vinyl only, you're probably going to try to buy the next record that artist puts out so you don't have to wait for some lovely rip.

Yeah having a super limited run press for the sake of it is just something that's never made much sense to me. Especially with the economies of vinyl you'd want to press as much as would sell, and from the apparent demand of it stuff like the Bandulu 12"s seem like they could handle a bigger run. But then I'm not the one looking at the balance sheet at the end of the day!

Hell make you're initial run with your printed covers the 300, and anymore can just go into some generic discobags!

It's funny thinking about things like print runs or whatever, versus what I used to think from a decade+ ago. Back then I never would've thought people would have actively chosen to go for the download versus the vinyl. I always figured vinyl would just be the main source with the odd wee supplementary income coming from the digital version. I suppose in hindsight I never was much good at predicting the future (see my idea when Vestax brought out their vinyl cutting machine)

I think a lot of them feel that the exclusiveness just increases the hype for their labels which means more bookings. At least some other 140 guys are starting to come around with the represses. Even VIVEK with his "NO SYSTEM REPRESSES" is even doing represses here and there.

Just gotta wait till Kahn blows to much money on leather jackets and dubplates so he'll repress the bandulu catalog or something.

Now I know it came out last week, so I'm a bit late tot he party probably but whatever! I only picked it up today. Really great update to their sound, with some nice mutations of what's been going on in the music world since their last LP.

Plus I have to say Give Up Art have outdone themselves on the design front this time. That's not an ink print on the LP, it's actually tape stuck onto a white sleeve. You need to break the seal of it to get the records out. Nice! Such a sucker for daft wee design things like this.

Gotta admit I still love a good breakbeat. But you all know that.

At least it proves if you say something will happen enough times, it probably will. How many years did I predict the return of the break eh? Sure I was wrong year after year, but dammit with the amount of breakbeat tunes that've came out over the past 12 months or so, I'll take it! So ahead of the curve!!

Breaks on the new Horsepower album, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HOmYvd0fL0

Oh and I've been narrowing down a list. From a billion or two tracks down to 50. That counts as narrowed right? God knows if I can even write anything about them though, some may end up further casualties.
