Pointing out that he has been established as 'scariest and craftiest guy in the North' is missing the point of this series entirely. 'Supervillains' in this series aren't defeated by 'superheroes'. You could argue that the show hasn't justified this as well, or that the Roose in the show is a less interesting figure than in the books. But it makes perfect, twisted sense that a guy who is an absolute fucker 99% of the time is undone by the 1% of himself that is recognizably human.

Those were different babies. They had the whole dramatic build up in the brothel then cut away, andafterwards random smash cut to another goldcloak carrying a dead baby around by the ankle in front of outraged crowds.
