I've still got my fingers crossed for "faithless electors", despite any state laws forbidding them. And then a riot on the convention floor. Edit: not a race riot, though. You'd need more than one race.

Speaking of whether or not May polls are useful, here's a timely and informative post: http://election.princeton.edu/2016/05/01/what-do-head-to-head-general-election-polls-tell-us-about-november/ tl;dr: Polls are useful in May, but more useful in October. (warning, math)

Yeah. I dislike Hillary intensely (not a US citizen so it doesn't matter, chill out), but it would take a 9/11 grade catastrophe to swing this to Trump, and even then it's a long shot. History being the crooked thing it is, though, I wouldn't write it out. It took the 2008 crash to make Obama go from a flip of the coin to a sure thing.

CelestialScribe posted:Donald Trump is clearly gaining ground against Clinton. I have said before and I'll say it again: Trump is not uniquely unelectable. All things equal, he will probably lose because the electoral math favors the democrats and he has higher unfavorables than Clinton. But a sudden terrorist attack or economic collapse could hand the election to Trump on a platter by virtue of being the Republican.
