You see this argument all the time from municipal politicians when it comes to casinos

:qq: if we don't do it, somebody else will :qq:

i guess we'll never know if reducing carbon emissions will really have an impact on global warming (IF IT EXISTS LOL)

Honestly, Elizabeth May's fire-from-the-hip nuttery is refreshing compared to the NDP trying so hard to be a respectable party for the last decade. I'd prefer slightly confused but earnest anger and outrage to a snide, insular political class that celebrates its own impotence.

She would get run out of the thread the first time the conversation turned to nuclear energy.

Despite some of her zany views, you have to admire May and anyone else still fighting for action on climate change. They have to know that absolutely nothing will be done until the day there's more money in fixing things than there is in leaving them as they are, yet they still keep hammering away at it.

Scratch that, then - until there's more money right now in fixing things. The easy, immediate cash-in will always win out.

As a matter of fact many of them are aware of this. Actually "Chemtrails are an illuminati plot to geoengineer the planet and prevent global warming" is one of my favorite conspiracy theories, right up there with Josephus ghost-wrote the New Testament and Mohenjo-daro was destroyed by a pre-historical nuclear war.

The world must be so much more interesting for these lunatics.

I'm guessing gays and trans people. We've already had nutters who claim they're responsible for the Calgary flood a few years ago, so why not this?

When there's a disaster - this is not the time for politics you heartless bastard! No disaster - clearly climate change isn't real or a problem. Basically, there is no time when we're permitted to talk about this and we should just shut up forever.

The few people I know up in Fort McMurray are safe and accounted for, which is great news. I do hope everyone was able to be evacuated on time - can't imagine someone getting stuck up there and just waiting for the fire to come for them.

Also, if you don't want to have your day ruined, don't imagine all the pets who had to be left behind.
