You see this argument all the time from municipal politicians when it comes to casinos if we don't do it, somebody else will i guess we'll never know if reducing carbon emissions will really have an impact on global warming (IF IT EXISTS LOL)

The cbc new update says that "all efforts to suppress the fire have failed". It's currently over 10000 hectares on fire

Sell all your oil stocks and invest in whoever has the type certificate for CL-415 water bombers.

We should all help bail out Bombardier so they can invest all their money into a water bomber fleet.

Pinterest Mom posted:The Conservatives actually did leave a surplus Honestly, Elizabeth May's fire-from-the-hip nuttery is refreshing compared to the NDP trying so hard to be a respectable party for the last decade. I'd prefer slightly confused but earnest anger and outrage to a snide, insular political class that celebrates its own impotence.

Despite some of her zany views, you have to admire May and anyone else still fighting for action on climate change. They have to know that absolutely nothing will be done until the day there's more money in fixing things than there is in leaving them as they are, yet they still keep hammering away at it.

The only publicly-funded GRS clinic in Canada was firebombed on Monday and nobody is pointing out it's an act of domestic terrorism...I wonder why

Actually "Chemtrails are an illuminati plot to geoengineer the planet and prevent global warming" is one of my favorite conspiracy theories, right up there with Josephus ghost-wrote the New Testament and Mohenjo-daro was destroyed by a pre-historical nuclear war. The world must be so much more interesting for these lunatics. Rime posted:LOL, this 16 year old kid from Karabakh that I chat with messaged me about the fire, asking if Canada was safe. Tell him no. The few people I know up in Fort McMurray are safe and accounted for, which is great news. I do hope everyone was able to be evacuated on time - can't imagine someone getting stuck up there and just waiting for the fire to come for them. Also, if you don't want to have your day ruined, don't imagine all the pets who had to be left behind.
