That ending doesn't lock you out of any others. It's an option.

At the end you trigger the Fire Keeper ending by using her summon sign, so you can skip it entirely.

Help me, thread.

I'm slvl 55 or so. I started as an assassin so I could play a dex build. My stats are now 19 Vigor, 22 Endurance, 30 Dex, 15 Int, 15 Faith. I wanted to do a dex/caster hybrid that used a small handful of spells as backup. I'm currently in Ithryll. I made it to the dungeon bonfire but turned around. Haven't killed the zone boss yet. In my right is a +6 Estoc and a Longbow, and in my left is a ceastus for parrying, a pyro flame, and a grass crest shield.

I feel...unfocused, and like my weapon isn't interesting. I upgraded the Estoc because it is supposed to be good in PvP, which I've been doing a little. It's not cool though, you know? I was using the Uchigatana, but that wasn't fulfilling either. At the same time, I wonder if I'm not far enough into Int/Faith to even have the spells be worth it. At the same time, I'm not sure I like ignoring an entire quarter of the left selection window.

Please tell me what to do with this character that would be fun, whether it be simply a weapon switch, or a full respec.

e: oh and I thought I should tell you guys that I got summoned as a bluecop probably 4 times in 10 minutes in Ithryll.

In the end beat NK on the luck build by ignoring bleed, because it doesn't really work on him (it triggers, but after like ten hits and for very little), visceral attacking him, and also by getting a phantom with soul spear which apparently shits on him. Luck is fun for the first half of the game but by the time you can actually hollow infuse it kind of sucks.

Not so much ate as inherited his soul or niche. He for sure eats Gwyndolin though, if you can call it that, since he's puppeteering Gwyndolin and using him to cast spells in the boss fight.

I've enjoyed the hell out of the game. I just beat all the bosses on NG+ and about to go into NG+2 and do it again. Might record the boss kills. I've been using the Enchanted Dancer Blades for most fights and Drakeblood Sword for the most difficult boss. You know the one. PRAISE THE SUN!

Character is 120 and I'll be keeping him there. I see PvP is fairly active at the Pontiff Bonfire still. PvP however is not enjoyable. Straight Swords, Estocs and Giant Dragon Slaying Axes for days. That is all it is and its just not fun if you're not using those yourself. I used a Scythe and Whip combo to be different and got some kills because people aren't used to it but it feels bad to have to fight uphill all the time compared to mister "swing swing swing swing." Maybe I'll use play as Gundyr on another character for PvP.

I got the Unobscured ring (The one that lets you be invisible at a distance to other players) and was pretty disappointed in it. I'll invade people a few times and have the cat ring, obscuring ring and silent moving ring and actually stalk them and their 2 phantoms for a bit. Fights are uphill though. And when you do kill phantoms, you can't catch the Host. Which are all problems I've seen people echo before so I'll not rehash it even more.

So I loving love the enchanted blades. Terrible for PvP. The spamming weapon art can lock someone down but the damage between the first and last flourishing hit is rear end. Its really only good if you have a partner to also hit a player. For PvE, the damage isn't bad. I've got a 30/30 and 20/20 build for STR/DEX and INT/FTH. I left Vitality alone and pumped Vigor and Endurance. With the Pontiff's Right Ring (The one that boosts damage), my damage goes up quite high, especially against bosses.

For all of NG+ I stayed embered and got invaded infrequently. I always stayed and fought, switching to pvp weapons and rings when I saw I was invaded. I wouldn't flask unless the other player did. And they NEVER did, probably because they understood I had double the estus. The fights were always fun because the people who did invade didn't run only straight swords or estocs. Shocking, I know.

I don't remember what my level was when I got to Farron Woods but there was enough invasions from Wolf Bro's that I would just book it because I was getting invaded by Red Phantoms, Wolf Bro's and there were no summon signs for me. The whip is glorious for multi-opponent combat though.

So sitting at lvl120, I'd equip the Aldrich or Blades of the Dark Moon covenant items and never get hits. I would wait by the Pontiff area for 20 minutes at a time, playing a game on my phone. Never got a hit and did this maybe 4 times. There were plenty of summon signs on the ground and I could always get a hit with my red eye orb. So.. Not sure what is going on with the covenants but it is frustrating. I hope they give it a Bloodborne patch fix where it touches on these things to make the game much more fun.

Hurray, I've actually put up with PvP to get my 30 Vertebrae Shackles because gently caress FARMING, and here I am! Earned them all fair and square. :toot:

...somewhat.

I think of the ~26 successful invasions I did - some gave me more than 1 shackle, I think because I murdered so many phantoms in them - I had maybe 8 fair fights, maximum. Most were a one-sided gang execution when me and 2 Aldritch Faithfuls surrounded a host, who was either clueless or had all his summons murdered. Some where successful ambushes (fragrant branches + bridge up to the archers... perfect for kicking off), some were dumb luck (host dies somewhere else just as I spawn), some are hilarious (mad phantom arrives to fight club, gets bored, backstabs host + all four present dark phantoms shrug and join in murdering the host).

And then there's the PAINFUL invasions. I'm not even talking about the constant gank squads - I knew what I was getting into, I was expecting at least 2 additional phantoms on the enemy side, but with the constant stream of Aldritchs and invaders that was no big deal. No. I started hating the Carthus Milkring. Constant rolling, running away, summoning new ones, virtually uninterruptable Estus drinking, NO DAMAGE. It's a constant chase. I actually had one guy, just vs. me, who rolled around, ineffectually poked the air, rolled around some more, got hit, rolled, healed, got hit during the healing animation but was already healed, rolled, rolled, repeat - until all his 12+ flasks were empty and I finally got that dork. I couldn't even parry or backstab, he barely attacked and always ROLLED ROLLED ROLLED HEAL ROLLED. GOD that was annoying. Not to mention all the connection issues: teleport stabs, invisible projectiles, animationless enemies, the usual. I really liked PvP when it got goofy and had maximum chaos, with 6+ phantoms going at it, but "normal" PvP really didn't endear itself to me, once again. Too much rolling, too much lag with wonky hitboxes as a result, far too fast healing (do throwing knives even stagger ANYONE out of healing? Never got that to work). And I really don't have the patience for trying out online gimmicks and waiting for the rare chance that I actually get to pull it off.

Also, goddammit you dumbshit dark phantoms, stop trying to backstab a mound maker, YOU GET NOTHING FROM THIS, I wouldn't have to kick you off the roofs if you just kill the host with me

Oh well. With Mound-Makers + Rosalia done, I'll just... completely ignore Darkmoon + Blue Sentinels, since THAT poo poo certainly never worked, until they patch in a better way of farming OR functional auto-summoning. Well I think it's far from certain, that's for sure, but if you look at a screenshot the parts of Aldrich you fight really do look uncannily like someone stuck Gwyndolin on top of Nito and called it a day. I say parts cause the sludgy floor that covers the arena imo is probably the actual body of Aldrich, that "bloated like a drowned pig" or whatever. I beat ng with the worst possible build: dex and great scythe up through pontiff, then respecced to anri short sword with carthas for bosses and faith for buffs. Neither work well. I'm in ng+ now and goign to switch to a quality or str build soon because might as well. Anri is just over 400 AR, 450 with the 28 faith 2 slot miracle. Woop Dee doo. The warden twinblades are even worse , around 250 ar and no range at all. I'm glad I finally did a luck build in this series but yikes.

I think the problem is just that there's too many awesome str weapons, or even str/dex , and very little for pure dex or luck.

If you want to use sorcery and also an interesting weapon, I heartily recommend the immolation tinder. This is quite useful, as it means your mage won't get walled by enemies that resist magic. Plus it just plain looks cool.
