This reads like it was translated from Farsi.

Trump is already calling on increasing taxes for the wealthy, when will people accept that Trump can unlike Romney, just shake the etch-a-sketch?

God drat I can't wait for the debates.

Trump's ego will not be able to handle being talked down at by a woman who is more powerful than him. He will melt the gently caress down.

He hasn't actually changed his hilarious tax plan though, right? The one that costs $10 trillion over 10 years?

All of his plans are just negotiating bases with congress. So anything bad about them is dismissible as just a bargaining chip while all the good parts will 100% happen.

If he shakes the etcha-sketch too often people will literally just start to blank out anything he says.

Trump has manipulated the media masterfully but media fatigue is a real thing.

Shake the etch-a-sketch on who? His diehard supporters, who would accept whatever he says even if he went on stage and jerked off for thirty minutes? Republicans who are already ambivalent or nervous about supporting him, and ergo must have at least some faculties of reason? That minority of Bernouts who are willing to accept Trump because he's not Hillary?

I think a lot of people confuse the outpouring of enthusiastic support from his base (that is plastered on every facet of the Media) for how he actually does in the general election. Remember guys: His disapproval ratings are the highest of any presidential candidate in recent history. He can't just shake the etch-a-sketch--that's what got people to hate him in the first place.

The gist of it is that Western Civilization as a whole is cyclical, and the cycle involves all the money floating to the top before the whole thing is shaken up again.

The thing is, I remember at least one article I read that was similar to this a few years ago, and I remember reading various reasons as to why it was stupid. I also know how tempting it is to attribute something to things you've seen happen before.

EDIT: Read the article, and seeing that it says the two options are "transform" or "collapse entirely" I'm going to just borrow this salt shaker and turn it over.

here's one way it's full of crap. The last few centuries have seen a frankly ludicrous number of economic booms and busts, a lot more than 3. A lot of those busts were apocalyptic by modern standards, more comparable to the Great Depression than anything we know today. A lot of wealthy people lost their shirts on the regular. But only a handful of those events were associated with large political upheavals.

Another way is the allusions to history; urban cultures typically collapsed because of huge famines, huge plagues, or genocidal war. Sometimes all three! Greed rarely entered into it.

If an article reads WE'RE DOOMED and at the bottom it reads BUT YOU CAN HELP FIX IT BY DONATING, well....

Given the insanity that was the USA after 9/11, I'd really have to say it depends. There's usually a rally round the flag effect but the republicans are bugfuck and would foam at the mouth trying to blame Obama.

Trump wouldn't make people feel safer, but he would start musing openly about nuking Saudi Arabia or whatever - and reflexive blind bloodlust is a good substitute for safety in some peoples minds. I think it is an open question whether his crowdpleasing antics would solidify Republican support or his lack of seriousness would cause his campaign to self destruct.
