Check out Evemon, it's a software that help manage skill queue and allow to check skill progression without having to launch the game. It just got upgraded to 3.0 so make sure you get the latest.

I still haven't had any solo PvP experiences that ended well for me, mostly because every time I've run into someone they've been "soloing" with a full set of links on an alt and good drugs, or they were bait for a hot drop and as soon as I get into tackle range they lit a cyno and 20 dudes landed on the field. I really have the worst luck with that poo poo. Dalael is too stupid to roam with links and drugs or bait for a drop so good on the new guy at actually encountering a somewhat fair fight in eve.

I've been having a lot of fun looking for fights in my Curse. Dipping into wormholes in an attempt to find suitable targets. It's pretty easy to disengage small gangs as you just neut out the tackle and warp off if you need too. The "not showing on d-scan" is very useful as well I find. I can happily sit at a gate or warp around a WH without spooking the target.

I don't bother with drugs or links because I don't want to. I like the simplicity of jumping in my taranis, flying myself to fade and trying to fight what I can. It allowed me a few kills, lots of cool chases and near misses and ultimately, lots of fun.

Solo pvp is only lovely in lowsec where the mechanics mean you can cherry pick every engagement. I run around nullsec at every opportunity and you get a ton of fights from people seeing a neutral and yolo-ing straight into the pod express. Or guys not understanding mechanics properly. Or idiots in hulks with ore strip miners afk at belts.

I have a feeling that my 218 dps Curse may be a little too low on the dps front to be effective solo. Might switch over to a shield fit and get some more drone damage out of it.
