This. Charities always have massive waste issues, and generally don't work when they are most needed.

Jian Ghomeshi is expected to sign a peace bond on Wednesday that could preclude him going to trial a second time for sexual assault, The Globe and Mail has learned.

It's amazing what a good lawyer can do, I thought for sure he was going to jail when all those women came forward with similar accounts of sexual assault. Incompetent crown prosecutors didn't hurt.

Andrew Weaver, leader of the BC Green Party, thinks Christy Clark is underpaid. She is a single mom after all. (Never mind that she is paid about 6-7 times what most single mothers make, not counting her 50k top-up from BC Liberal campaign coffers)

quote:

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green party, listened to the angry attacks from the NDP and shook his head in disgust.

“I couldn’t believe the levels of vitriol and hatred that were hurled,” Weaver told me. “It was unfair. It was personal. It was not worthy of the legislature.”

“Quite repugnant,” said Weaver, who has no problems with Clark pocketing the extra Liberal loot.

“There are nearly 3,000 people in the B.C. public sector who get paid more than the premier,” Weaver said. “That’s ridiculous. The premier is underpaid.”

Public employees making more than Clark include university presidents, the heads of Crown corporations, the Vancouver police chief and many specialist surgeons, Weaver said.

Then you have the big cross-border energy traders employed by B.C. Hydro’s Powerex subsidiary, who bag a million bucks or more a year.

“I’m not concerned about the premier accepting a stipend from the Liberal Party — she’s a single mom,” said Weaver, adding he detects gender bias in the NDP’s attacks.

“If she was not a woman, do you think people would be going after her the way they are? Gordon Campbell accepted a stipend from the Liberals for years and no one said a word.”

Green Party, so progressive you guys.

(a) Effectiveness and legitimacy: that the proposed measure would increase public confidence among Canadians that their democratic will, as expressed by their votes, will be fairly translated and that the proposed measure reduces distortion and strengthens the link between voter intention and the election of representatives;

(b) Engagement: that the proposed measure would encourage voting and participation in the democratic process, foster greater civility and collaboration in politics, enhance social cohesion and offer opportunities for inclusion of underrepresented groups in the political process;
