Hum. Some of the tracks on Outrun Europa might be your speed? Kind of 80s-retro digital music.

In other news, I'm looking to expand my knowledge of rap and hip-hop music. I like Eminem, Sage Francis, Dizzee Rascal, Foreign Beggars, some Wu Tang Clan (Mystery of Chessboxin and Gravel Pit spring to mind) so if anyone can recommend other artists with that kind of rapidfire delivery that would be ace, ta.

You might enjoy the Coup, who pair phenomenal rhymes with very fast delivery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua5GGkZD1Tk

If you want an older sound, you might give a listen to Big Daddy Kane, who helped pioneer fast rhyming in the '80s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-mOgRw9ozA

If you don't mind a bit of a metal touch, the album Chameleon from Helloween has those. It's a very different album from their usual power metal stuff, lots of acoustic stuff and lighter rock songs. I always loved the production on it, it's really clean and crisp.

To sort of fit in with the example album, I always thought this Calexico live recording from Stockholm from 2003 has always sounded fantastic, especially for a live album. Plus it's got excellent covers of a Minutemen song (Corona) and a Link Wray song (Falling Rain).

Otherwise you'll do fine by looking at lists of 'headphone/audiophile' lists online.

Sorry, I have one for Spotify only, but I don't mind sharing that if you want. (Note, it also has a lot of soul.)

Similarly to the other guy, here's my spotify list https://open.spotify.com/user/1230963030/playlist/5MUEV7MIWqCn0zwwIPsU7m it needs some trimming down, and there is some soul in there as well. It also occasionally veers in to done disco territory as well, and I put parliament/funkadelic and sly in their own category but it looks like you'll have that covered.

As a quick guide, get some Zapp/Roger Troutman, early fatback band, slave, BT express, Brick, Tower of Power and early Bar-Kays.

Man, what the fuck, man?
Looking for further recommendations on the lines of my latest 80s(ish) kick. My friend is apparently recommending me music "in a minor key with synths", though I'll note none of these are particularly down tempo.

He's basing this off of these recent successes:
-Pink World (Planet P Project). Now my favorite album ever, though his other stuff hasn't particularly grabbed me.
-Neuromancer (off of Cyberpunk - Billy Idol) ... and much of the rest of the Cyberpunk album, especially Wasteland.
-Mama (Genesis) . Note that this is the only Genesis song I've heard that I've actually, though I've only jumped around through a few of their albums from both eras.

If you lean towards the more soothing and ambient side of drone, there's a bunch of mixes/podcasts up on Shimmering Moods Records's soundcloud page that are really, really nice. They also tend to have full track listings.
For example: https://soundcloud.com/shimmering-moods-records/shm-podcast-64-merites

Whenever people ask about drone ITT there's a bunch of names that always get recommended. I'll just settle for one of them: listen to Tim Hecker if you haven't already. He is Very Good. (Ravedeath 1972 is a good starting point).

If you're looking for wordplay similar to Doom – and saying this is probably a stretch – I'd definitely recommend the Mouse Outfit if you don't mind the British accents. People tend to make that a taboo issue for some reason.

Well, aside from the '80s glam rock/hair metal/shock rock frenzy I've been on for the past twelve months (most recently heard Kix. Some of their songs like Blow My Fuse and Cold Blood are just soo good) I recently stumbled upon a metal band that I really like: Demon. I like the song Into the Nightmare the most, but they do have some other good ones like Life on the Wire. Now, this basically brings my list of metal bands that I enjoy and listen to regularly/semi-regularly up to three: Dio, Demon and Saxon.
So what I'm wondering is, are there any similar bands that people here could recommend me? I've spoken to some of my RL friends who like metal, but for the most part they like either incredibly loud+rapid metal music, or incomprehensible screamo metal - neither of which appeal to me, really.

So yeah, needless to say, I don't listen to their musical advice so much anymore. :D But yeah, so any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Hell, not necessarily just for metal, either - if anyone happens to think of some '80s rock bands that I might like listening to (main ones from memory being Def Leppard, Queen, Poison, Fastway, as well as some Europe, Twisted Sister, Night Ranger, Great White, Queensryche and Ratt. Likely missing quite a few though)

Thanks again, with aiding me in my endless pursuit for more music!

The first two Winger albums are good pop-metal if that's what you're into. And the first three Warrant ones. Maybe listen to Gary Moore's solo albums from around 1978 to 1990 too. There was a British band called FM who played AOR style and were pretty good at it.. Their keyboardist was called "Didge Digital".

I imagine there's a lot more I could name on the more obscure end. Autograph; House of Lords; Giuffria; Paul Sabu; Heaven's Edge; Diving For Pearls; Hardline; Streets; drat Yankees; the Dan Reed Network; Romeo's Daughter; Honeymoon Suite; Jeff Paris; all sorts.

I used to be into all that, but I'm not any more. I've gone off it. But there's probably more I could name. If you want more of that, GloryDaze Music and Heavy Harmonies are the websites to check out. Rock Candy Records is a British label set up by a bunch of music journalists who used to work for Kerrang! way back when that reissues a lot of this stuff.

Here's some stuff. I can't link to Youtube right now but this may kickstart things:

Motley Crue - early albums: Too Fast for Love, Shout at the Devil, Girls Girls Girls, maybe Dr. Feelgood
Ozzy's early post-Sabbath solo material - Bark at the Moon, Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman
Alice Cooper (maybe? Check out Billion Dollar Babies and see what you think)
Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction, G N R Lies, Use Your Illusion I & II
If you like Queensryche you may like some Iron Maiden. Check out a song called Hallowed Be Thy Name.
You might like Thin Lizzy - checkout the album Jailbreak

Some I can't personally vouch for, but were pretty big in the mid-80's:

Skid Row
L.A. Guns
Faster Pussycat
Tesla
