It doesn't affect their careers, just their compensation which is due to Red Bull investment in them, and limited to the first 3 years of their F1 life anyway. This is much better then those early 2000s schemes where drivers were selling shares in themselves. Nobody has ever invested as much as Red Bull has into young drivers. To do that, you have to get rid of the ones that don't perform and promote the ones that do.
