Another possible clue dropped for Archer-in-the-pool: Krieger mentioned he was building a Voight-Kampff test, which was the thing in Blade Runner that they used to tell humans from replicants.

Much like with everything else in life, the Euros seem to have more sense on how to do things in a fun atmosphere without sucking the soul out of the event.
This was a fantastic episode. Probably the hardest I've laughed at an episode since season 4 or earlier.

e: when Zissner called Pam "Baby Huey" the reactions included Archer going "not cool", Lana doing a finger waving, head shaking "uh uh", Cheryl trying to console Pam, and Malory giving a raised eyebrow once-over on Pam then shaking her head in agreement. Very funny to see personalities maintained in group reaction shots when it's much easier to just animate everyone standing in agreement on something.

This is part of what I love about the show. It's always worth on a rewatch, keeping an eye on whoever's not talking, because they're probably having an amusing reaction to whatever's happening.

Yeah. I had to explain it to someone later, but it was a nice little pop culture reference based on a malapropism of an author's name.

When the two rich weirdos hired two teams from the agency to catch the other cheating, I looked at my wife--right then--and said, "it's all a ploy to get them sleeping with another person so they can watch it or something. It's a convoluted swinger thing!" I said it sort-of jokingly. Five minutes later, I told her, "... if I was right, then I'll...", but I didn't finish that thought because it hit me: I was right.

When we got to the big reveal, she just rolled her eyes.

There's so much good stuff that stands out during a rewatch, like how you find out Carol/Cheryl has given "Ocelot was sick" as a work excuse before you find out she actually owns an ocelot. The really great part is it works as a standalone joke the first time around and then just gets better when you see it again.

Probably my favorite call-forward/call-back is during Vice. The episode where you find out Lana is pregnant has Ray making an off-hand remark about getting her a children's car seat, and then in the baby shower episode, Ray's pissed when he and K-Log's bodyguard show up with identical gift car seats.

Or some hint for the weirdly complicated ARG going on. Or both. There's probably a famous person who was born that day and some password is his grandmothers maiden name in hexadecimal code.

As someone who just binged through all seasons of Archer for the first time the change in Pam's and Krieger's personality and characters really sticks out to me since it feels like nobody else had any sort of character change or development. Krieger is a god drat joke now who's portrayed as some kind of incompetent mad scientist/inventor when back in S1 he was at least shown as smart and competent. Pam is also totally different too coming from "boohoo nobody will sleep with me and nobody likes me" to whatever the hell she is now. I remember watching the show at first thinking Archer was an incompetent joke goon as well but there were a few episodes that just show how effective he is as a spy if he really tried but all that seems to have been lost since now his character is self aware: "Things always work out for me somehow so just relax."

It's still a great and entertaining show. I just wish they'd turn down the incompetency a bit and do more scenes like the Mallary one where she managed to break out of her holding cell because turns out she's actually a great spy.

and this last episode had Cheryl setting everything up smartly while only acting stupid, playing right against your narrative

just watch and enjoy

Krieger is competent in the fields of inventing weird stuff. Interacting with other human beings, not so much.

Also Pam no longer being insecure and pathetic is a good thing.

What was the baby Huey name the guy called Pam in this episode about? I didn't get the reference. I kind of wish that Pam and Archer interacted more. Archer realising she's probably his best friend a few seasons back was a surprisingly sweet moment and she rarely interacts with him enough despite it.

Also, I liked in this episode that when Cyril pointed out he was dating Lana he realized he couldn't sleep with the married woman. It seems like a bit of growth, since I doubt him from the first few seasons would care and would just do it anyways. I did prefer when his vindictiveness towards Cyril was more unintentional and opportunistic though, like him giving Cyril's name when the police come at him after Vegas. Him saying he'd even date a guy if it upset Cyril this episode this episode felt a bit too mean. The other times were all mean too, but it felt almost like Archer didn't really think those things through and was just bullying Cyril more as a momentary impulse than systematic bullying I guess.

That said, I'd still love to see Archer date Cyril's dad just to see Cyril's reaction.
