From reports on SilverTower Murdergame, it sounds like it's literally Age of Sigmar rules with a dungeon randomizer and enemy AI rules bolted on. So not even close to original WHQ. GW is just cargo culting itself from 20 years ago.

TheChirurgeon posted:The best part was that the Giants lost that game Well yeah. If it had been a crucial game-winning play, that would have bested The Catch and The Catch II. It's still a fantastic display of athleticism and I love seeing it over and over. Especially if it annoys Dallas fans. YF19pilot posted:Pass interference, I believe. The other player was hooking his arms around the receiver's arm before the catch. The yellow "flag" is used to signal that there was a penalty/rules violation during the play. Active play is usually allowed to continue, and the penalties dealt with afterwards. Yes. On that play, the man in silver and white, who is a Dallas Cowboys man, illegally interfered with the man in blue and white, who is a New York Football Giants man. There are rules about not grabbing and pulling on a man when the ball is being thrown to him. This is part of what makes that catch so special: the Giants man, whose name is Odell Beckham Jr., caught that ball behind him one-handed despite being illegally yanked on by the defender, and then came down with it with both feet touching down inbounds and not dropping it as he hit the ground, all of which are required to complete the pass. And in the end zone, so a touchdown. The flip side of it is that if Mr. Beckham, Jr. had failed to catch the ball, the penalty would have given his team the ball spotted at the point of the foul anyway - e.g., just short of the end zone with a first down, a situation where most teams can manage to score a touchdown anyway. And, as TheChirugreon pointed out, the New York Football Giants went on to lose that game. Leperflesh fucked around with this message at 18:33 on May 15, 2016 |

Galaga Galaxian posted:Copied from the Specialist Games Thread: Really, who would start epic when there are better games with the same base mechanics out there? Especially knowing GWs track record for just dumping all the old games... I wouldn't think the market for nostalgia is this big... unless they have done some market research. When was Epic big last? Is that enough time for the people who played it to get good jobs and see their kids out of the house? Good on GW for rescaling it so your old epic scale stuff is incompatibly with the new stuff so you have to buy it again.

I cannot wait to see what they do to BloodBowl. It will be a poo poo-show of epic proportions. There is no way they will release it in its current living rule book form, and whatever they release will be a glorious mess. It won't surpass some of the other gaffs they have done in the past few years, but they will be poking some of the most fanatical and passionate players of any board game I've ever seen to date.

I'll need entirely new terrain pieces, I can't proxy anything, and my thousand dollar collection of Epic Armageddon is useless. I think I'll just keep playing EA." Yeah Dropzone is pretty cool. I've had no luck getting my friends playing it and the aesthetic is kinda weird, but it's a good game and I love the tiny men. What I wouldn't give for a superior line of 10mm fantasy miniatures to play Kings of War with.
