Just binged this as well. I was ready to quit after the first five chapters of shonen tsundere but I´m really happy I stuck with it. What an incredible note to end on, and agonize for new releases. To keep the prediction pool going, the witch has to come back. Too many hours of design work went in to her hat for her to be a one off character.

My guess is a 'hero' is just a human that taps into whatever other world the New World energy is from naturally anyway. The monster versions are probably just the equivalent of the forcibly awakened humans, since like the awakened humans they seem to grow more powerful exponentially over time while simultaneously being mindless and berserk. It fits with the whole freakish destructively rapid evolution thing and the berserk rage that even a natural like Helck has. It's possible that the northern threat is just a ton of old powerful New World monsters that have had a couple hundred years to grow stronger. Previously there was a lot of it untranslated, so it "came out" more regularly because there was a backlog. That is no longer the case.
