Rotary ACs later on changed this to a jam instead of a crit hit I believe but your chances of a jam went up the more shots you fired per turn.

Edit: Regarding the Targeting computer, initially it worked with Rotary/UACs but I think they revised it so that only single shot mode works.

If they put Rotary AC5s in, and do it right, they will loving own.

Ah, so we have the rotaty variant in game i guess.
But the regular clan AC still fires a salvoe instead of solid shot?

In the TT, there was no difference. Fluff wise, it varied between a salvo or a single shot depending on manufacturer. But they simplified this to all have the same damage, regardless of type. So some manufacturers had multi-shot normal ACs which equaled the power of an AC 20 but also had single shot versions firing one massive slug. UAC fired even more dakka which equates to a double shot.

Edit: Pulse lasers were also written kind of like this. Some pulse laser fired a pulse beam while some fired multiple shots. They all did the same thing dmg wise.

it has more firepower than the Atlas-S (good!) but in a squishier package (bad!) but it's 9 kph faster (good!) and 30 kph faster in bursts (exceptional!)

it's p. good man. you can't lead a push like the Atlas but if you play it like its own thing it owns bones. having an assault with that big of an alpha that can run that fast means that you can dart between cover, flank, straight-up avoid shots sometimes, and all kinds of fun stuff.

what I hear is that the real hotness is the KDK-3 with either a STD and quad gauss or 4 UAC/10

Well in a turn based Tabletop there is little difference in solid shot and multishot, but in a video game spread makes a difference.
It would be nice if the regular clan AC had single shot, i really hate the dakka AC20.

Overall it seems like it shits out damage and is a little squishy like most clan things

The KDK-3 looks real fun though.

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

The spirit bear is pretty good as well. The 2 isn't as good as those two but you can do a SB build minus the masc but with jump jets. I think those are the three to get to mastery with. The 1 seems like it could be a laser boat but it would need to be doing so from a few hundred meters away.

It doesn't play like an atlas. You shouldn't be leading the charge.

If you want trash go back and look at the Archer.

I think it requires a playstyle that only semi-exists in this game, because it's like a weird combo of the Gargoyle, Executioner, and Victor.

Like, an AC/20/SRM Victor should be a fantastic quick brawler, but it's not scary enough. the SB is super scary at chasing people down and unloading its huge alpha

That alpha is loving bonkers. I had a game where I hosed up and ended up finding the big enemy push right at the beginning of the match. I went down quick but managed to get 250 damage. If you don't just charge like an idiot you can flank like a mothetfucker and tear poo poo up. SB is nuts with it since you can hit the mid 80s with masc. I basically play it like my hunchbacks only huge and with three times the firepower.

Honestly I think they will really come into their own in a few weeks when each team doesn't have four. A kodiac working the flanks while an atlas or something else tanky draws aggro could be nuts. Imagine a 4 man of an angry dad a ghost dad and two bears.

Stringbean

I don't think we'll have to wait long for the Kodiak heavy teams to simmer down. The interest is dying quick because people can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that the Kodiak is not a mech to push with. They see that Atlas sized hulk and go "Oh yeah time to lead the charge". So you end up with KDK-SB pilots MASCing their way right into a blob and getting reamed.

Then you have the small minority which understand that the KDK is a weapon boat meant to lay down some heavy fire from just beyond the front line.

That doesn't sound too bad actually and maybe even swap out the Ebon for a Hellbringer for ECM.

Also, I need help with rebuilding my MAD-3R. I already have three chassis basic-ed and would like to use this one to master it. However I am kind of stuck with the 3x AC5 build at the moment. Is there any other builds people have some success with? I've looked at an AC20 brawler build but given how slow the machine is, not sure that's really effective. Any new ideas? Effective PPC builds?

I'm running an AC 10 and 4 Mpulses plus AMS. I dunno if it's actually good but I've had some fun fights with multiple kills in pub drops.

MASC is very good for two things you don't list here.

1. You can go from regular speed forward to full masc reverse nearly instantly. You can nope your way out of a bad corner or hill and not take critical amounts of damage.

2. You can change direction very quickly by using masc during the turn. It seems to boost any movement, not just speed.

With the SB shotgun loadout, you can dump, duck, and cover amazingly well. Scooty Bear
