None of the gifs I just posted seemed to be playing unless I open them in a new window. Is this happening to everybody else too? Because I haven't done anything different to how I've done gifs since SA added gifv support so I'm clueless what could be causing it

It's because you linked to the imgur pages instead of the gif itself. Watch:  Also if J-Ru wasn't the only person commenting on non-RAW gifs maybe you guys wouldn't have to spam 15 replies every time a page gets too crowded.

Watch: That works, but those are the original gif files which are enormous (around 5mb each) and the entire point of the whole gifv thing is supposed to be that you get to link to better compressed images. I've generated the gifv links in EXACTLY the same way I always do, and in fact if I go back a page to previous gifsets I've posted they still load no problem so I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.

They don't convert everything you upload automatically, just the large ones. Testing it out, the cutoff point seems to be 10 MB.

I always make a point of not making anything bigger than 5mb, and I post the gifv links every time. Seriously, I haven't done anything differently and if I compare these last two posts to all my other recent gifv posts they're basically identical. I seriously don't know why these aren't working, it's the same link structure that always works (and is in fact working on the previous page!) and I don't want to post the original .gif extension and create 60mbs worth of links. Unless you're saying that the gifv versions I'm posting are just the same size as the gif anyway because they're not over 10mb? In which case the entire thing has been an exercise in futility regardless. I'm starting to think maybe I should give up making gifs, to be honest. I can barely even load the page up nowadays.

Again though, everything else I've done (thousands of gifs!) is on imgur, the imgur links have all worked fine in the past, and in fact the imgur links on the previous page (which are identifical to how I posted these ones) still load fine. Something is different somewhere obviously, I just can't figure out what it is.

Turns out browsers have issues loading multiple looping videos at the same time. Try using SALR, it has an option to force them to not autoplay, and it helps a decent bit.

How do I install that? I've had an older version in Chrome for a while, but when I try to drag the .xpi file to my Extensions menu it just downloads it again.
