Larry Parrish posted:Yeah I'm sure the people who will actually want to fork $800 for these setups (people who play lots of games) will be incredibly advanced by bow games, shooters where you stand in static space or move on rails, and a legion of extremely buggy adventure games. Most of these VR 'games' that are really just tech demos are $60 too lmao. well, theres elite and... uh other games?

vr is going to be big, it's a legit thing. but not the walking around an empty room, tethered to a pc version. it's going to be a couch thing, and it will be social stuff, not video games.

The Management posted:vr is going to be big, it's a legit thing. but not the walking around an empty room, tethered to a pc version. it's going to be a couch thing, and it will be social stuff, not video games. I dunno, the Vive seems to have leap frogged Oculus in mind share. even minor game streaming channels I barely follow have got their hands on them. it's really entertaining to watch too. like you're not just watching someone play a game, that's boring as hell. you're watching a guy pretend to stroke himself off with a banana in front of his boss and customers in an autoshop, then toss the banana at his bosses face before drinking gasoline and puking inside of the customers car. only some of that is helped by what's intentionally scripted into the game. streamers have a full range of motion and freedom to entertain viewers in these sandbox games. which makes me wonder, perhaps VR will be for the few, but extremely popular to stream to others. I see streamers building rooms with chroma key and sound dampeners on the walls, just for VR. that both shows the dedication and excitement of VR, but it's limitation at the same time. you need room, and not everyone has it when adults are living at home with parents, people are living in shared spaces and so on. it's a privileged pass time.

when SSRIs came out, the manufacturers had no idea about brain zaps. they fully tested it , but brain zaps happen on such a small percentage of people that none of their trials found any.

Yeah brain zaps were fuckin weird LIke if you stayed perfectly still they wouldn't happen, but if you moved your head, or even moved your eyeballs, it was like someone was poking your brains with a 9 volt battery and you got a mildly unpleasant jolt
