What I don't understand is why PL and Goons never decided to just merge and helicopter dick the entire game. Is it an ego thing amongst the top leadership? I would think that not even the rest of Eve being bankrolled by people like IWI and the other casinos could stand up to Goons + PL. Oh well I guess that after B-R there were probably too many bruised egos to make that happen.

Not having sov is pretty awesome though.

Don't have to worry about defending loving structures that can be sov-lazered by an industrial ship and focus on just shooting people.

If you want to go out and lose some semi-expensive ships with your friends, nothing's stopping you. Just don't expect any reimbursement or a ping. Also expect to get a reddit thread mocking you when you inevitably lose them, since they're running low on stuff to smug about.

I have been doing that. I never once expected reimbursement anyways, so it's all swell. Plexing for ISK is easy, and I might be constantly space-poor, but I make up for that by having an above average job in real life.

Huge_Midget posted:

So what's the next step then since we no longer hold sov? I haven't been on much lately but it seems like we're eating poo poo constantly and getting laughed at by the rest of Eve. I know Aegis sov is loving dumb but it's pretty demoralizing to not seem to be making any headway or doing anything meaningful besides interceptor fleets and stealth bombers. I know some people enjoy that but is it really accomplishing anything? I feel like we'll never be able to project force like we used to with PL camping all of our old super staging space. I guess I'd just like to know there is some kind of plan because poo poo seems like it's getting old and I'm debating whether or not to let all my accounts lapse when they are up in a few months.

Things aren't all perfect by any means, but it's not the end of the world either. You're right about us losing our space, and the rest of Eve did in fact band together to come to the north and take us out. We were the boss monster, with good reason, and it took a ludicrously large coalition to form up and do something about it. In doing so, they were able to demonstrate that we were very much not in a position to defend all of that space, and that we needed to do some things differently. If PL can keep that coalition together, then they absolutely can keep us from holding territory in a meaningful way for as long as they want. On Tuesday, the day after we won a large fight in Saranen, PL brought in 1200 pilots to take out a Citadel we had dropped, while we were only able to form up 600. 600 would of course be more than enough to take on any of those single entities, but as a group, they get to dictate our actions.

So to Landsknecht's point, we are assuming that everyone will tire of being friends and steamrolling us eventually. Not the best plan in the world, but given the reality of Eve's game-play, I think it's a reasonable alternative to throwing wave-after-wave of our own men into the fray. There is no Riker-maneuver we can pull and suddenly our 600 Tengus beat their 1200 Proteuses. (Or 800 Proteuses and 400 Caracals)

That's the bad news. We don't have 200-whatever systems for our members to feel relatively safe in while watching their wallets grow. Onto the positive stuff.

First, I personally am having a blast after returning and losing Eve once again. There are fleets up all the time, and you don't have to travel terribly far to get into combat. You mention Stealth Bombers and Interceptors, and those do form the backbone of the constant fleets that go out, since they can get to the target systems quickly. Either by burning in swords, or getting BLOPs bridged in Bombers. That's important, because while everyone loves to fly bigger ships, moving them around takes a lot longer, and we run the risk of the enemy simply docking up and waiting for us to leave. With the smaller fleets we actually have a chance at ganking miners and ratter, plus taking on smaller gangs. Plus we do have some Battlecruiser and Destroyer fleets going out most nights.

Those constant fleets are also serving as a pretty great training ground for new FCs. I see a lot of new and different guys taking our fleets and getting experience. We're losing some folks who don't care anything about PvP, and more power to them for going to find somewhere else to do the things they enjoy. Also, Saranen war stories are going to be a great bonding tool for those of us that get through this.

I think there's a plan, you can watch the fireside chat replays on twitch and hear what's being discussed. There may always be some super secret "other" plan, but I wouldn't count on it. If you really don't enjoy the game right now then you can join Hole Squad, or try high-sec stuff. I know a lot of people are doing exploration to make money and you don't need to own space for that. And hey, if it's time to walk away for a bit, then walk away. Most of us have after all, and we somehow keep ending up back here.

This is basically how I feel about things, as a goon that lurks more than posts and is in KF (~valued ally~). December and January sucked, it was constantly poking back and forth with MOA and being bored to tears, activity was declining with the people I played the game with because Stunt was banned so we had no one to chase around and by and large things were just stagnant.

Yea, we lost a ton of poo poo, that was going to happen after six years of collectively pissing in everyone's cheerios. On the upside, like the above we've got a billion people to shoot at, its a great time to train skirmish commanders and bring up the next generation of FC's against a variety of enemy commanders and generally just drive interest in the game. I've learned more about PVP since this war started than I have my entire time playing EVE prior.

What gets tedious, is the folks who can't seem to separate internet spaceship drama from other things, I'm pretty sure I'd probably have a great time at the bar with most of the people in this thread if they could chill on being raging loving dickheads every eight seconds. We know that some folks thrive on this poo poo but it gets pretty goddamn tedious to sift through.

For those of you not actively involved in the game, this is a pretty great line of attack that the bad guys (Non-goons) have come up with. They've decided that they can make everyone hate us by making it out that we're a cult of personality that worships The Mittani, and then just drag him through the mud. As a goon it's hard to get too mad about it, since we did the exact same thing to an HVAC repairman from Europe, who I am sure is a perfectly nice normal guy. (Sir Molle in your book VideoGames) It's also really hard to take seriously from inside GoonFleet, since we see the reality every day, he seems like a perfectly normal nerd that plays a computer game about spaceships, and has been leading a big alliance for a long time. He should stop using the word "club", because that's for bros and lounge lizards, but otherwise he's probably all right.

One of the biggest laughs I got was early in the war after the NPSI guys "declared war" on GSF, then got mega assblasted when they bumped into a TISHU(?) fleet and got pasted. We had a fleet out looking for them but by the time we found them it was just wrecks and TISHU had hosed off.

Think about that, this war is so hilariously lopsided that the no-blues NPSI guys said gently caress that we want NRDS.

Which is why the slapfight that was developing in the chill thread (shame on all of you) about game balance was so dumb (GSF: sov is broken  PL: seems fine to us :smug:) because to my rather uninitiated eyes this looks like a pretty exceptional set of circumstances.

And they'll do it for 20 or 30 minutes or so however long the bad dudes hang on the undock popping pods.

So no, it is certainly not even close to "most" of the pods that aren't empty.

Not sure how complete the information from zKillboard is, but it looks like most of the pods in Saranen are worth 10k, so empty pods.

Is there a way to filter this down to just show pods? I can get it to losses by system, but I don't see anywhere to break it down by ship type.
