Gah, I get super salty when I have a streak of horrible matches on solo queue, I should just leave the fuckin' group and cross my fingers. At least the most recent poo poo match had a Zarya do a fuckin' clutch black hole into a team kill to rescue us from 99-0. We still lost because see above, but that was dope. Also a Mercy that didn't know how to heal. :\

Sure but why do the people that I play with are learning the game while the people I play against already know everything. I can't even play support because there's no one to support, only gold medals with 4 eliminations to be gotten (a thing tonight). Also the server is making GBS threads itself in South America. Pharah is great, if your opponent doesn't look up or can't hit people in the air. I think she works better "on the bounce" instead of trying to impersonate a flag capper. She's good at fighting armor-heavy teams.

Goddamn is it difficult to countersnipe a decent Widowmaker. My TF2 tactic of juking them by switching to an unorthodox firing position doesn't really work if they can already see me through their wallhack ultimate. Most of the time it comes down to who has the better aim and reflexes/muscle memory. I probably have to fire up a solo custom game with some AI Widowmakers and just practice.

Yep, SA servers are trash right now. Last game of the night was 10 elim 6k damage heal double gold Lucio in Temple of Anubis defense, which I suppose means I finally found the Bads! And then I get a black screen. Fix your favela servers Blizz. Lucio is still very fun, by the way. Pre-shoot corners, kill stupid turrets and bad Tracers, heal a lot and run away from wa ga teki no team wipe.

So I finally got around to playing some of this tonight with my Brother. Seems pretty nice so far, though I wildly spiral between my usually being mediocre at shootey mans self and feeling like some kind of olympic god by knowing such concepts like "Blind fire your rockets into a doorway" and "Look behind me, shoot enemies attacking my teammates from behind." People thought me saying "It's my first day playing" was trash talk despite clearly being level 3  But then I'd go and be a complete failure in another match so it evens out.I'm sure as my levels go up from rock bottom, quick match will set me up with more and more people who know how to play this properly instead of the hardest problems being "How many bastions and Turret Dwarves do they have with their backs to a wall and hard cover at once?". Like that guy who actually knew how to aim with Junkrat compared to my wild firing with him. I'll leave my comfort zones on character picks eventually, but it feels hard to go wrong with 76, Pharah, and Trobjorn. Considering how pure basic Shooter Class they are. I know I will be staying FAR away from Widomaker and Hanzo because my aim is inversely proportional to how important it is I don't miss. I'll ding Widowmakers from across the map to death with an assault rifle from a comibation of luck and no pressure, but put a single shot "precision" weapon in my hands and you may as well let a spirograph aim. Junkrat is fun, though I need to stop being so garbage at direct hits. Reinhardt is cool but I suck so bad at actually attacking things with him, steering his charge without barely missing somebody is right out. I'd so use Zarya if her shields were not such short duration. "Don't worry, I'll shield you!...Oh it ran out right before the rocket hit you, my bad." Also as per the Tips And Tricks Penny Arcade edit, I already made it my mission in life to walk right past shielding Reinhardts and shoot their Mercy execution style (Why am I getting away with this so often). So I felt I actually earned those "Play of the game" moments when that's showcased. Observe, the turret turtle class. Out of his element flanking with a shotgun to the back of the head and throwing armor upgrades to all of his teammates. I loving love dropping items teammates can use while still being able to murder people (See also, Yaaaaay 76. I get UT guns, AND I can heal allies!) I figured out some dumb background process was what was causing my ping to be 200ms, once I eliminated that it's dropped to a much more manageable 20 and boy howdy what a difference that makes. So far probably my most used character is plain ol' Soldier 76 but dang if I can't actually do some good with him. Sprint is great for getting back into the fight quickly but I need to learn to use it more defensively, also pre-emptively using biotic fields, but now that my ping is respectable I can shoot halfway decently. On defense I admit that I lean towards Torbjorne, find a place for my turret, then find another place to shotgun motherfuckers while, as Section Z says, handing out armor to everyone. The turret's a good early warning system and the rivet gun has surprising punch if you learn how to use it right. Favorite moment so far was playing defense on Numbani and headshotting a Widowmaker taking up position in one of those overhead balconies overlooking the payload destination. I haven't played snipers, like, at all because I'm not a pro MLG gamer and also someone else usually snags Widowmaker or Hanzo and I don't want to double up, but I also need more practice with tanks and supports. I did pretty solid with Roadhog on King's Row but obviously need more hook practice, and as for support I thought I'd dig Lucio but ehhhh, I just can't seem to make him work well and his weapon is kind of mediocre. Haven't tried Mercy yet. People rag on Symmetra but I've gotten my rear end kicked by some well played Symms who knew just where to place those turrets and how to use that gun of hers to good effect, we had one match attacking on Volstaya where we couldn't even get past the front door thanks to her, Torb, and Roadhog.

Generic Sterotype Gamer feels that healers are FOR them, not WITH them. My twisted insanity also means I make a note to drop 76's heal pods near our Mercy (and, well, anyone) when they are under fire. I hate not being able to efficiently murder things personally too much to do most straight up support types, but I do love a "Wingman" playstyle, for lack of a better term. As an official old man too old for games, as I'm struggling to overwhelm 20 years of FPS play with Mouse Accel left on via EPP in Windows, Overwatch is loving my aim. Is there any way to set it on again? Yes, yes, I get the pro choice is to play with raw, but it makes the game feel weird as poo poo to someone whose not on every FPS since mlook became a thing.
