last night, around 4am, my printer randomly warmed up and started printing until it ran out of paper

it seems like it was printing what I assume is some kind of postscript file, but as ASCII text so you can see all the header data like

code:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: cairo 1.14.0 ([url]http://cairographics.org[/url])
...
followed by page after page of numbers with the occasional letter

no one was doing anything other than sleeping, nothing in the print queue as far as I know because no one has tried to print anything in over a week

i was about to say "not it's not" but decided to double check

sure enough, due to the router enjoying shifting the IP addresses of everything around now and then, DMZ was enabled and pointed at the printer's IP

gently caress

can I hope at least that they were just trying to print goatse, or is installing hacked firmware on printers something people bother with?

they were almost certainly just trying to print a buncha bullshit.

i suppose you might hunt down the printer manufacturer's firmware updater and use that to flash a known good firmware to it, if that's available?

this is only for tmo postpaid, not prepaid

fishmech the availability of prepaid sims in canada is slim and most have little to no data because canadian telecom is on par with developing countries in terms of pricing etc

$50 for a cricket sim that does canadian data/texts/call roaming is gonna be your best bet

the $40/month plan doesn't do it, $50/month does

with the $9.99 SIM fee it's gonna cost you $60 USD unfortunately

wait that actually works on video streams? crazy

the thinkpad x61 tablet uses mini-pci express not regular mini-pci. it's got the the things arrange to secure a full length card but you can buy a cheap thingy to attach a half length card just fine.

i'm not using a bios with a white list. a usb adapter would be retarded. windows 7 professional

right now I'm using a intel 4965AGN but that of course only has n support

1. pick your favourite YOSPOS thread
2. make a script that fetches new posts in the thread
3. send them to Google's voice API and let it speak them
4. apply a spooky filter to the audio
5. play on speakers

then let it repeat.

i have a case study in front of me that's a complete clusterfuck of data management

the gist of it is "you manufacture $widget and all of your sales are through third party distributors. when they make a sale, they notify you to ship $widget to the client", followed by a bunch of methods of contact

most of these are various apis, but some are using email

what's the cool way to ingest emails into a database these days?

this is a real banal problem but is there a way in windows to force a folder to open with the same settings all the time. ordered by name but sorted (and separated) by date in a downloads folder is optimal but every night it seems to reset

assuming the last bit was your actual question, probably something like mailgun which lets you forward mails to all kinds of things, including calls to your own API.

i had to "upgrade " to mac outlook 2016 and now all my automated messages are no longer grouped together, so completely spam my inbox. is there a way to tell outlook that emails with the same subject are part of a single conversation, and would thusly be grouped into one tiny piece of my screen real estate?

alternately can applescript or something be used to listen for mark as read events and trigger some code to move the message elsewhere? outlooks rules dont work at all. i want a event listener onread so i can make my email usuable again
