No Federer. No Nadal. What's the point?

# ? May 27, 2016 17:56 |

The point is Djokovic cruising to a comfortable 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 win against Murray/Wawrinka in the final and proving once and for all he is the greatest tennis player of all times and a really cool dude everyone loves because he does funny impressions and doesn't eat gluetn and definitely doesn't take drugs at all.

Not sure if you are being serious or not, but if Novak wins he'll still have a ways to go before he is the goat.

Milos has decided to jump on the 'get coached by a former big name player' bandwagon. https://twitter.com/Eurosport/status/736286951519707136 e: Eurosport deleted the original tweet for some reason. Sodium Chloride fucked around with this message at 22:20 on May 27, 2016 |

I was always fascinated by the fact that McEnroe won his last Grand Slam at age 25 (!) in 1984. He then continued to play until 1992, but he only reached one more Grand Slam final the rest of the way. I mean, he's great and all that, but if he was playing nowadays, people would use social media to tell him that he should retire already. I mean, imagine Federer, Nadal or Djokovic taking a 6 month break from playing tennis because they were feeling burned out.

Ivanovic/Svitolina on now. I've tried to be a Svitolina fan in the past but her game is just too defensive, too much counter punching. She's basically another Wozniacki. We'll see if she cranks up the aggression to match Ivanovic's inconsistent offense.

Not many compelling matches today. Stan/Troicki could be good, Nishikori/Gasquet will be a grindfest, and Halep/Stosur will be "who fucks up less".

I think Nishikori v Gasquet is the obvious standout today, they're both entertaining shotmakers and Gasquet has a home crowd advantage. Can see that one going the distance. I'll probably watch Begu v Rogers over Wawrinka's match, feels like the type of match that can end up unexpectedly good, two unheralded players on a good run. Or it could be terrible in which case I'll switch. Meanwhile Raonic is losing... badly.

Whenever I hear John McEnroe commentate or frankly just speak in general he sounds incredibly uninspiring to my ears. Obviously he's got some clout just cause he's John McEnroe but I almost wonder if Raonic will ditch him first. Then again I thought the Becker appointment was destined for failure and look what happened there.

It looks absolutely miserable on every court, not least because there are so many empty seats. Feels like all the momentum's been sapped out of this tournament.

Djokovic playing like rear end, loses the 1st set 6-3.

Play suspended again. I hope this year's tournament gets completely shitwrecked. The French tennis federation are pussies and should have followed through with their threats to relocate the tournament, and the Paris city council are fuckers for being obstructionist.

The FO offers a 100% refund if there's less than 1 hour of play and a 50% refund is there's 1-2 hours. Djokovic and RBA played for... 2 hours 1 minute. What a loving scam.

Bertens seals it with a love game and a nice pass on match point. Super impressed, I have to say, she was excellent. Keys wasn't even bad today, just Bertens was kind of on fire. Hopefully she keeps it up, on this form I could see her giving Serena a lot of trouble. On paper, at least. In practice the occasion could well play a role and she'll get clobbered.
