FFT posted:Out of curiosity, what's the AFP Thread's opinion of fried egg on a burger? Honestly makes it taste too much like breakfast for me. If I'm doing brinner I prefer to have it based around that as opposed to just introducing it into a lunch/dinner standard, but I feel like I might be the minority

Best burger I ever had with an egg on it also had hash browns, sour cream, cheese, and bacon on it on an onion roll. Added ketchup and devoured like a heathen.

Aesop Poprock posted:That's obviously just pulled pork over poutine with a lattice of bbq sauce, the gently caress you talking about son I think Lard Goat was talking about the Italian beef sandwich someone asked about adding cheese to, not the poutine. The implication being whether cheese is acceptable on pulled pork has nothing to do with whether it works on an Italian beef. Man, now I want a combo. And some pulled pork.

FFT posted:Out of curiosity, what's the AFP Thread's opinion of fried egg on a burger? Some people are, like, offended by the idea of egg on a burger or pizza. It's just another bonus protein like bacon or pizza toppings. I'd be tempted to say "no burger rules" but I've read the rest of this thread.

I'm 110% down on fried egg on a burger, but it has to be the same way I have my eggs normally. Which is to say, very over hard, almost burnt, with a broken yolk. Runny eggs are my own personal AFP.

Aesop Poprock posted:He was responding directly to P. Not really a coincidence, since the cheese on the pulled pork came up in the discussion of the cheese on beef. I don't think he meant the pulled pork itself was beef. If he did, he's obviously super wrong.

I think putting cheese on an Italian beef might make it some kind of cheese steak sandwich? The taxonomy gets vague. I had also never considered the possibility of cheese on an Italian beef, so there is also that.

Good italians are bad enough as it is.

Calves don't give two fucks either way, I obviously can't speak for every dairy farm but the calves I helped tend to were fed whatever milk was left and then fed either ground corn or sugar cane vegetation. Probably the happiest fattest strongest cows I've ever seen.

Portillo's in Chicago has the Beef n Cheddar Croissant which is Italian beef with cheese inside a croissant so it's definitely fair game to experiment with. The sandwich in question is devestatingly delicious and presumably if eaten with one of their milkshakes will permanently bind your soul to the Midwest.
