If you want to play it on the PC with a few modern amenities you can use this:

https://doom64ex.wordpress.com/

Just a note, this is literally a PC conversion of Doom64. It's not a Doom mod at all. You'll need to get a hold of the Doom64 ROM. How, is up to you, however.

If you don't want to bother with that you can play the Doom 2 mod Doom64 Absolution:

http://www.moddb.com/games/doom-ii/addons/doom64-absolution-tc

This is just Doom 2 modded to play similar to Doom64 but Doom64 purists tend to scoff at some of the inaccuracies it has.

drat straight.

Also how everyone's day went?

Spent my day celebrating my 4th year anniversary with my GF.

Went to AFK, (think basically a gaming lounge and bar) played like 5 to 9 rounds of Smash 4 on the couch with her , walked around San Jose for a bit checked out the convention, and ate sushi for dinner.

Today was a good day.

The best drunk games are social multiplayer games like New Super Mario Bros and that new Jackbox stuff that are either easy, don't require gaming skills to win at, or continue to be fun even if you die constantly and don't accomplish anything.

Drinking and playing singleplayer games sounds like a disaster, partly because it's not healthy to make a habit of drinking alone anyway! I've been playing games like Dark Souls 3 and Bayonetta 2 as well lately, which I'm sure would be almost impossible to do well at when hosed up. I've tried drunk Souls before and it isn't pretty.

I did a run of DS1 where I had to drink every time I used an estus flask. It was fun. I made it to Gargoyles before I started getting pretty drunk and then it went downhill FAST.

Mario Kart is a pretty great drinking game. Don't drink and drive, kids! Drink and throw turtleshells!

Profoundly dull

I think all driving games are acceptably good drunk gaming choices, esp. for couch coop. My college roommates and I would regularly do Friday evening Forza before heading out, it was a good time.

Now that I am sad and alone in life though it is all about spacegames where you can't gently caress up too bad :jebcry:

I am glad you had a good day celebrating your anniversary with your GF. Congrats on 4 years!

I am doing weirdly. Slept for 14~ hours (give or take an hour) because my body was all hosed up and just super tired, probably gonna crash here soon. Other than that, it was a solid day. I've been looking up dumb skylanders poo poo cause I might be able to get a wii u starter pack for the 4th iteration for $15 and that'd be pretty cool since the local five & below has 3-packs of compatible characters and some other single-packs for 5 bucks each and that should be fun for co-op with my fiancee, if she is fine with dropping that kind of cash on me as a late bday gift thing. I'm not entirely sure I'm okay with her dropping money on me for that though. I kinda wish this SSI poo poo would hurry up because at least then I'd feel better since I'd be bringing in some kind of income :|

Me too. It IS fun as heck :) I don't blame anyone for wanting to wait for a price drop. The Campaign is where all the fun is. Snapmap maybe if you want a map editor you can just dive into and throw something together for yourself or friends. I just went through the tutorials and it made me want to put some time into it. Multiplayer is unfortunately not going to last, I feel. I played enough to get the achievements for it (there's only two and they don't require a bunch of gametime) but I think it's going to die fairly quickly what with the very hyped Overwatch already out. What I did play of multi wasn't terrible but it definitely didn't grab me by the hand and pull me along for a ride, like the campaign did.

I'm enjoying Doom mostly but insta-death platforming in an FPS is one thing they should have left in the past, also I kind of wish they'd put more thought into combat encounters rather than 90% of them being big arenas where stuff just spawns in.

If I do decide to finally break down and buy a PC next month, I'm probably going to buy Doom and Overwatch, and then just playing TF2 again for days instead.

I played DMC3 yesterday to the end of the first Virgil fight. It was fun but I've already played stuff like Bayo so it's weird having the first climactic fight be kind of... easy? I mean obviously I am not doing perfect poo poo on him and I don't think I've gotten higher than a B on any mission but I was expecting to die a lot more than a couple times. Still cool as poo poo, somehow I thought the fight in the opening cutscene was one that happened prior to the game but guess not.

Also randomly put in NES Ninja Gaiden 2 and got to the final boss for the first time in my life before needing to go to sleep so I might just try that again today.

As an aside, Sony's doing that thing again where you can watch their E3 press conference in a movie theater. I kind of just went last year because I had nothing to do but it was so fun watching people mark out about the FFVII remake live that I'm going to try to go again.

When DMC3 was new, Virgil was like the hardest thing ever.

It's actually a real problem, I'm finding, especially in games like Devil May Cry--later generations have done what they attempted to do a lot better in a lot of ways, building off those mechanics and formulas. DMC3 still stands up, it's aged fine, but once you've gotten adept at Bayonetta or MGR, you find that you're a lot better at the game than the game readily expects you too. I played DMC3 when it was new and never could get past Beowulf or whatever his name was, and to get there was a grueling struggle. I played it years later, having had beaten Bayonetta and games like that, and I think I'd just learned enough good habits that I found the game to be relatively easy. When they keep raising the bar, eventually former champions just don't seem as lustrous as the new ones.

Don't overlook how much easier DMC3SE is versus DMC3 vanilla though. DMC3 vanilla was insanely hard and punishing and DMC3SE massively eased up on the difficulty.

But you're right there is a bit of that "I've played Dark Souls 1 for 200 hours and now its super easy, and even DS2 and DeS weren't that bad my first time because of all that practice".
