It's pretty telling when people just go "Well, a lot more people play Overwatch, so I guess that means it's better in every regard."

Edit: I've played a lot of both games. Overwatch has a ton more polish and much smoother gameplay, but I think Battleborn knocks it out of the park on character writing and dialogue.
The games are so different gameplay wise that it's not really any point comparing them though.

Have you guys run into the phenomenon where somebody sees they have a gold medal and thinks that means they're better than everybody else? I had some kid telling me I need to start healing because he had a gold medal in heals. Dude, I've healed 45% of all team damage taken; I'm loving healing. Plus we won last round and we're about to win this round too, what the hell are you complaining about?

Sometimes gold medals ate worthwhile indicators of someone doing their job. One horrible route 66 game I was in I had a gold medal heal as reaper with 600 health healed. We had a mercy the entire game. Yeah it was as horrible a loss as you think it was.

It's baffling how bad some mercy's are at their jobs. I've had games where I've stood behind a mercy, slamming on the "need healing" quick chat and then literally gone over voice chat and said "MERCY PLEASE HEAL ME" and instead she continues to heal Reinhardt or something.

Unless you have your entire team right behind you, do not leap headfirst into the enemy team and expect to come out alive. Winston's greatest strength is that he can get into the vulnerable backline and deal consistent, unavoidable AoE damage while dancing in and around his bubble in order to prevent himself from getting mulched. You should be looking for vulnerable targets (1-2 relatively fragile players who aren't stacked with the rest of their team) and jumping in on them with the intention of either killing them or forcing them away from their frontline. You're actually pretty good at killing Mercy , given your mobility and unavoidable damage, so prioritizing her when you can is important. Never overstay your welcome and leap out as soon as you can when everyone starts turning on you, especially if your Barrier Projector's run its course.

I had a Winston breakthrough when I started leaping more laterally across battles and less behind enemy lines.

Edit: also soldier 76 is the best for pug play because you're pretty much your own little package. He's also almost never useless due to the healing zone and generalist weapons.

People say that because they play that character the most and, usually, are the best with that character. My "main" in this case would be Tracer, a character I can destroy a lot of people with and usually be a big boon for my team with, but that doesn't mean I only play tracer
Same, but with Junkrat. D.Va is my 2nd-most played character followed by Lucio. I'm trying to get in some playtime with other characters so I can at least be decent at countering everything, but if the problem is "turrets" or "being held at a chokepoint," I think I have that covered.

what maps are currently considered the worst in terms of "being on Attack/Escort while Defense gets ridiculous chokepoints or hideyholes" I still kind of wish the first point of Hanamura let you go into it without needing to pass that gate. Symmetra can turn the house to the right into a kill chamber.

I don't know if this is a generally agreed upon position, but I think the second point of Anubis is the hardest control point to attack in the game.

In solo queue with pubs it's practically impossible to crack that one if the defending team has bastions and torbs and effective snipers.

They're easily identifiable, their general gameplay pattern is pretty recognizable by their design, and they're pretty clear to the opponent. Idk what more you need for good characters in this game

The only successful group strategy I've ever found to break into Anubis B with a competent team defending it is two Reinhardts and a Bastion setting up on the bridge and mowing down enough people to move in. It's a terribly designed map overall and is probably my least favorite of the current rotation.

to be fair you could say that about most of them. on the payload Route 66 map there were 5 bastions on the other team and nobody else switched to Pharah, Junkrat, or Reinhardt so we got hosed halfway. actually with all the nooks in that one, doing Mei walls would have been good too.

Yeah, for all the people complaining about how fast Mei's ult pops, at least you can get out of the way. If you're not playing a tank and Reaper drops from a ledge you're basically dead.

My only issues with the game so far are the "almost-one-hit-kills". Roadhog's hook/shotty, McCree's Flash/Fan, and Widow (to a lesser degree since she needs headshots) make it really unfun to pay against them. I don't mind a character being squishy, but considering the baseline health is 200 having characters who have can dish out that damage without you being able to do jack poo poo about it raises my salt levels.

I've been hearing people comment about finding it odd that people are still dying to D.VAs and Hanzo's ults since it's kinda trivial to get out of their way and they're right, for all their damage they're super telegraphed (or Pharah and McCree who can usually get murdered when trying to pop one) so Reaper's ult kinda stands out in that regard as kinda cheap.
