Holy poo poo Winston is my JAM. I only tried him a little bit before but I just golded elims 4 times in a row with that big flying slab of monkey beef. Are there any weird subtleties to him beyond basic stuff like "dance in and out of the barrier"

Just ran into a level 96 dude. Anyone got some numbers on how much he must have played per day to reach that number in a week? Edit: He wasn't especially good, so I don't think he could have gotten there on medals alone.

This isn't always a viable option though especially since your desired prey as Winston often stay behind the front if they're smart/able, but is worth keeping in mind. Learn how much damage everyone's weapons do, ideally as specifically as possible. Your tesla cannon does 54 dps which is obviously incredibly low so every 1v1 encounter is you trying to dps race your target and knowing how much damage they're likely to do is a big boon for knowing when you're in over your head. Engage people who you know don't have cooldowns available. A widow you just saw grapple onto a place is a lot more likely to get electrocuted to death than one hanging around on a perch for a while since the latter can just grapple away as soon as you jump her. 76's healing station and helix rockets will also start to slant those encounters in his favor. I'm sure there's others. This one is sorta silly but if you wanna be a god tier ape man learn to turn around mid-jump so you butt-bomb people. This is important against really good widows because otherwise they'll pop you in the dome for 300 damage as you jump them and then they can smg you down with ease. But if you show 'em your booty then they can't.

The shield is extremely good and you should use it on chokes or on points or when your team is poking. The hardest part about playing him is knowing when to use his ult, it's pretty much the best overtime ultimate in the game (other than lucio/mercy I guess) but otherwise it's a bit poo poo. Feel free to pop it just to survive or whatever if theres a lot of time left in the round/match, but don't waste it if you're just going to die anyway. He's a cool guy and wins games McCree will gently caress you every time though

You can play against the AI and still get every achievement, stat, and exp you would in a normal game. This is why looking at someones career profile isn't really a thing when it's like that 50 kill solo streak is just them camping the dumb AI at spawn.

There was a dude (Cort?) in beta who got to around level 600 so yeah I'm sure they have a pretty solid idea of what the grindiest person can accomplish.

I play only characters that annoy the poo poo out of other people, need more McCree time. I think my K:D ratio would be better with Pharah if I didn't try to elaborately knock people off the map or into the well rather than just killing them, but where is the fun in that.

Random dumb question, but it's surprisingly hard to actually test. Due multiples of the same sources of healing stack? Like double Lucio aura, or double '79 biotic fields, or what have you?

This is especially true in situations where you have activated Primal Rage but aren't really in a good position to do anything substantial for your team and instead end up feeding the enemies a massive amount of ultimate charge. Also, activating Primal Rage instantly refreshes your jump pack cooldown so it can be useful if your trying to save yourself from falling into a well or you need to get to the objective extremely quickly. Is there a way to get out of a game when you're dragging your team down? I think the matchmaker put me in with pros or something one game and I was absolute poo poo, barely getting 5 feet out of spawn before dying. I think I was on a hot streak with Lucio, then they matched me with a game that was already overloaded with supports, and I'd rather not be the sole cause of defeat for my team.

i don't really like the fact you collect graffiti sprays in this game and can spray it on buildings. Alot of younger people play this game and graffiti is vandalism not cool

Other than that, it's just jump in, shield-dance, jump out, ult when low, knock people around.

How do you play D. Va? I don't get her purpose, she's supposedly a tank but has a huge crit hurtbox that's extremely easy to hit especially when shooting people. So the mech pretty much dies fast unless I boost out and even defense matrix won't save me most of the time.

Her ultimate is actually a really nasty point clearer (at least if you're not dumb and boost so that you throw your exploding mech at the team) but it can be kinda hard to get her to that point. I think it's because she has unlimited ammo on her vehicle mounted laser-shotguns (which are hilariously weak for something that are vehicle mounted but, gameplay trumps reality) and they had to give her a downside. If she could at least move at a speed faster than snail's pace when firing to keep up with people I think she'd be a lot better. Or if her robot had shields to replace/go with its armor? She could be quite a nasty hit-and-run tank if she could move while firing and part of her HP bar would regenerate, it would definitely make up for the fact that her critical hitbox is so huge.

Playing Lucio on an escort map I was basically pushing the vehicle forward myself several times and the other team couldn't kill me off. Was so funny.

I know not a lot about overwatch and haven't played a fps since the original team fortress game. Is there a good baby's first offensive player I should be while I figure out the genre? I'll be mostly playing with a group of 5 other pals so I figure they can carry me while I am learning not to be terrible!
