Vintersorg posted:I think I saw $90 US / $120 CAD for the Vader tie and A-Wing which seems loving ridiculous for two small ships. Yeah seriously. I was excited for this set but I was guessing it would be 60 dollars. The price on SW stuff is getting so gougey I'm about ready to call my collection complete.

I told myself I could get into the Star Wars sets because it bankrupt me. I bet if you were to have bought all of the sets at retail from the start you'd have spent 20k at least. I cracked a little and said poly bags from episodes 4-7 were OK. (None of that prequel garbage.)

Probably the movie due out this year that the series is named after?

New vehicles for Rogue One. Imp Tank, Rebel Troop Transport/Fighter U-Wing, TIE Striker, and what I'm guessing is the main villain's ISB shuttle. I think I need all of them.

Shuttle looks kinda like an escort shuttle from the TIE games. gently caress yeah AT-ST!

# ? Jun 1, 2016 23:30 |

The more I look at that shuttle, the more I like it. It's the kind of bizarrely shaped thing you'd find in one of the 90's rpg books or comics.

Still think it looks like this guy. I wonder if it was in the McQuarrie art, I think that's where they got a lot of this stuff

Also the fountain set that they're giving away right now is pretty dope, if only for the statue (and also my Kwik e mart has another bike in the bike rack)

What do you have to do to get that fountain?

Spend $75 at a Lego store
|
# ? Jun 2, 2016 04:46 |

Why does the prequel movie have more derived spaceship designs than the one set thirty years later? God the future X-Wing and TIE were boring. To be clear I'm talking about the source material, not the Lego sets.

The Episode 7 designs were made by fanboys. Literally and in fiction

Lego display lasts for about an hour after unveiling

For further details, it was in China, and a 4-5 year old kid accidentally knocked it over. The statue 'cost' $15k, and the artist accepted the parents' apologies and refused repayment (probably since the bulk of that was the actual cost of the brick, which is still there. It's only straight labor cost to rebuild).

So i finished the 42039 24 Hours Race Car B set and BOY IS THERE A LOT OF EXTRA PIECES. I don't having this many leftovers the last time I built a B set... like it could be 100+ "pieces" Hummer thing looks great tho.

# ? Jun 2, 2016 05:36 |

Man, I'm surprised that any Lego statue isn't, A) Reinforced by some sort of adhesive, and B) Attached to some base to prevent a tip over in the first place.

Yeah it's hard to be sure but based on what you can see of the feet it had no internal structure, which means it was doomed from the start. The slightest nudge would pull the 2x4's of the shell apart.

Was really hoping the new Marvel sets would go up for sale today too. I really want that Spider-Man bridge set. Stoked to pick up some of those Marvel Super Heroes display cases that came out today though.

Picked up the Pirate Mixels. They are just so perfect. I might have to leave them in they're Max form for awhile, because it's a great pirate ship.

German goons: real has a 20% off on all Lego except Dimension sets today only. It took some willpower to not go and buy stuff I don't really want. However, my next big purchase will be the Big Ben, as I love London, and that isn't in there.

I think the third wing is just hidden by the pose it's in. Maybe? It was always a cool design and there are lots of other 3-wing SW ships so it fits right in.

Better shot of the Imperial Tank. It's a bit... GREY!!! ...but still looks rad, I like the front grill. And a Donnie Yen mini-fig!

I would buy so many of those on clearance for all that delicious grey. I like how they stuck that new 1x1 round stud with hole on top just to lure in the part hoarders.

That artist is smart to be chill about it. Nobody would have noticed if it hadn't been broken. You can't buy that sort of promotion.

Sockser posted:The internal structure was the Duplo you see lying all over the place Still no way that would ever work, Duplo isn't magically better at resisting forces from the sides. For a build five feet tall it would need some kind of technic skeleton or a non-lego solution. You can see the feet still intact in the "after" picture, and look into the ankles. There's nothing in there for support.

The TIE Striker is purty, but the U-Wing looks goddamn terrible. (The actual design, not just the lego model.)

He probably still got paid, too (assuming he didn't just do it for fun to begin with). I'm sure it's disappointing that all that work was undone so quickly, but it's not the end of the world and he still has all those bricks to either rebuild or just move along to the next thing.
