AlbieQuirky posted:Bobby Flay's brunch cookbook has about a zillion different recipes for "mimosas", most of which are to make a cocktail and then add sparkling wine. The watermelon margarita mimosa actually sounded good. And boozy. He made one brunch cocktail on his show which was just 'make a smoothie then add a bottle of white wine' which seems more like an alcoholic soccer mom thing than a socially acceptable morning drink thing.

Bloody Mary's are for weak Americans who couldn't cut the rugged Canadian Caesar lifestyle. Now excuse me while I go fight a bear and cut down a tree with my beard at the same time.

I drink a lot but I absolutely cannot stand tomatoes in any context other than ketchup with fries or red sauce for pasta if there aren't other options. I feel like I'm really missing out by not being able to enjoy bloody maries. They sound great in theory but one sip makes me want to barf.

Tomatoes are fine in almost all cases but I absolutely cannot stand the smell or taste of tomato juice or tomato soup. I somehow always seem to end up sitting next to the one guy on the airplane ordering the can of tomato juice. The smell makes me want to gag. Tomato soup elicits a similar reaction if it's the cheap canned kind that have the same smell and are more like hot tomato water, but I have seen some at restaurants that weren't bad, so they get a partial pass.

Jesus Christ, I'm old as balls and still don't like tomato juice. I doubt I'm going to suddenly start liking it when I'm 90, either. Y'all can have my share of the tomato juice. Forever.

Tomato soup isn't soup, it's just broth, waiting for soup to be made out of it.

Tomatoes are my favorite food on earth! But i hate stewed tomatoes. I used to deliberately barf them back up onto my plate in front of everyone at dinner so that my mom would stop making them; it worked.

Homemade tomato soup is the bomb but a can of Campbell's condensed tomato soup has thirty loving grams of sugar in it. That's the amount of sugar in three glazed donuts. Good god, why is there so much sugar in soup Also, I'm on the bloody mary train, but I can't find a bartender who will make one spicy enough. They get all serious when I ask for an extra spicy one and tell me that it'll be really spicy and that I should reconsider, but when it arrives, it tastes like someone briefly showed some tomatoes a photo of black pepper.

Tomatoes are my mom's favorite food, too, but she's always hated stewed tomatoes because she hates green pepper. Her mother would tell her, "Oh, you can't taste them--they're just in there for flavor." My mom is in her early sixties and detests green pepper to this day.
