Yeah, I've taken to picking him a bit more often lately as well. He can have really frustrating bad streaks, but when he works he's really fun. When it all comes together you're putting out pretty decent healing while your discord orb makes short work of tanks and your main attack kills lighter classes at a surprising rate.

I just played a quick game on Anubis attack. I picked Widowmaker, and a guy on my team said "A Sniper on offense? Really?". I said "Yes, really, there are some good lanes for offensive snipers," which I know about from playing defense.

I then proceeded to pick off the enemy Zenyatta and Hanzo (okay but he WAS in the usual Widowmaker perch), then sniped sperglord as Bastion on the cap point and was first onto the point to help cap. It was really quick. My team decided to go for point B via the side tunnel, and I whittled away at the enemy Reinhardt from the main entrance because his shield was perpendicular to me. After the enemy was first pushed off I closed in to help cap and added some more damage to the enemy as they tried to defend.

In total, 12 eliminations, 0 deaths and I was on the point for both captures. So yes, a sniper on offense. :colbert:

I wanna do some Symmetra on Attack and see if anyone says anything. Also to see if she can contribute anything. (Probably not much.) Although an escort mission with a car covered in turrets and a Reinhardt defending would be pretty funny.

Only two bad things about Symetra is her lovely legendary costumes. Lesbian CEO or goofy Hindu god. Also people complaining that your picking symetra as attack on a map where you move the payload. From what I've seen on solo queue, enemy teams rarely have an answer for an extremely aggressive attacking symetra.

Also I cringe when I see people pick Genji, 9/10 times they are complete poo poo. At least a lovely Hanzo can still give wall hacks and double dragon every once in awhile.

Well you sound like a loving pleasure to be around.

They do.

The pubbie outrage to offensive Symmetra gets old fast. An offensive TP is just as good in Overwatch as in TF2.

Sometimes you have to actually tell people what the objective is. I guess some people don't really care and are only in it for flanking fun.

I get the thinking that people are like "oh hey teleporters ruled on offense in TF2" but Symmetra has to do damage to keep teleporters going at any reasonable rate. She builds meter by people walking into her car washes. Why would anyone expect that to work on offense?

Junkrat, Pharah or Hanzo taking pot shots at the turrets, Reinhardt shield can hold up decently against turrets, Zarya can bomb them depending on where they're placed, comedy Genji deflect.

Torbjörn doesn't exactly chew through shields so Reinhardt works well and Junkrat can just blow them up from behind a corner.

I went through an amazingly good 10 game streak of wins with a bunch of people that would build reasonable team comps and didn't needlessly try to chase kills and abandon the objective. We would all tell each other when our ultimates were full and we would layer them well. I want that back

Okay, how the hell do you play Symmetra? Offense or defense, I constantly contribute nothing except a teleporter, occasionally slowing people down with my turrets so that a better teammate can kill them, and even more occasionally getting a laser kill. Nothing feels good with her, which is a shame, because I really love the idea of her kit.

I gave that a try one game on Gibraltar. No one complained, but I sure didn't accomplish anything at all. I did personally kill two enemy teleporters, but that was it. The second teleporter I spotted when I snuck into the barracks below the hangar only to see the enemy Symmetra had the same idea I had and placed her own teleporter there. Amazingly, neither she nor anyone else noticed my teleporter there even though I attacked hers right after placing mine and was killed soon after destroying it. Other than that, I was a complete waste of a player slot and managed to get 0 eliminations.

Level doesn't mean anything but time played. Although I do wonder exactly how someone can get to level 50 without figuring out that the red/blue thing is kind of important and you need to do something with it.

e: Four characters own bones on KOTH and they are: Lucio, Reaper, Zarya and Winston

Winston is the master of contesting points, Lucio can get you there quicker, Reaper works best when a bunch of people are clustered together in one are and Zarya is the god of making that happen.

You want to steamroll any KOTH have at least one of all of these in your team.

The two schools of thought for (defensive, first point) Symmetra play are:

1) Block off a side route by making a death wall that the offense can't destroy without walking into it by placing sentries on the ceiling/behind doorways. The advantage to this playstyle is that it means the offense must choose between making a concerted effort to deal with your turret carwash lest their flankers never be able to take that route or to just suck it up and eat a lot of spam going down the main chokepoint. This pairs well with a Junkrat, Soldier 76, and basically anyone else who can make that main choke/path a disgusting quagmire of explosions and bullets.

2) Scatter your turrets in groups of 2-3 behind walls down the main path. Since this is where most enemy pushes will come from (meaning their high health tanks - the people your turrets don't threaten - will be here) your turrets won't last long, but unlike the first strategy they will almost certainly do damage quickly and distract people for a moment. Best case is making a Reinhardt turn around/drop his shield to hit them, giving your team precious seconds to obliterate everyone Rein was previously protecting, but against organized teams the Rein will just keep blocking while his team deals with them. The advantage here is that your ult will likely charge faster and, as you noted, your teleporter is your biggest asset.

Beyond turret placement your goal is to figure out where the offense is coming from and shoot M2 orbs into their slow, meaty characters from a safe distance. M1 is really only for team fights on the objective when having your body on the point is more important than safely spamming to build ult. Against individual enemies, especially 200-HP ones, your ray just won't amp up quickly enough to be meaningful. Your best bet against those heroes is to weave orbs, taps of M1, and quick melee and bob in and out of their effective ranges since basically every 200 Hp character has better dm than you. Here's a video of Internethulk, almost definitely the best Symmetra player in the world, doing that: http://plays.tv/video/57477544c35c4a43d8/best-symmetra-na-
