Flopsy posted:I feel like this is another way of saying "It's for kids! Of course it's stupid!" But seriously that's a weaksauce reason. Something can be silly and innovative/enjoyable. The pokemon anime's greatest weakness is it's dull. Powerfully dull. It's not even silliness it's just the story is tired and worn out and yet they keep beating the dead horse. I want it to be fun but at the very least have consistency, move a plot along and give it lasting consequences. ANY plot would do at this point. its not just for kids, its for selling poo poo to kids, the show does this admirably and has little reason to hire someone to write a better plot

like, the profit margins on the anime is almost certainly insane, and better writing isn't actually gonna matter to that at all, so why bother

mandatory lesbian posted:like, the profit margins on the anime is almost certainly insane, and better writing isn't actually gonna matter to that at all, so why bother The writers could easily make something better. The problem is that when they try for anything involved, it is subject to being overridden by their marketing department at a moment's notice. Remember the GS Ball? That was building up to a whole Celebi event, but the writers were ordered to drop it completely. Combine the pressures from higher up with poor profit margins, an audience with very low standards that replaces itself quickly, and the inherent deadlines of each new game's release and you can see why the show isn't anywhere near what it could be.

I feel like the mega evolution series was an attempt to branch off to the older audience but the writing for that series is pretty poo poo too. Not to mention it got shoehorned into the main series anyhow. The best they could do is make smaller spin off series while keeping the main money pumping monster at the forefront. Mind you like I said several pages back, just read webseries if you want decent story telling with pokemon. When you don't have executives/editors breathing down your neck the quality improves dramatically.

Unfortunately, it's just a vehicle to show off the megas with no real story and an intensely dull protagonist.

http://kotaku.com/out-of-720-pokemon-pikachu-wasnt-voted-number-one-1780991790 That popularity poll in Japan ended. It's skewed because of the giveaway aspect, but it's still pretty interesting. Poor Simisear came in dead last.

Space T Rex posted:I dont get this. There is no reason to expect fusions...? The reasons are that Ash-Greninja is A Thing in the anime, the symbol on the Japanese logos for Sun and Moon, as well as the trinket thingie on the male PC's bracelet, is similar to the trinket featured in Pokemon Reburst, a manga based around humans with the ability to fuse with these Pokemon crystal thingies. Oh yeah, and you can see the trainers in battle now. I'm personally not buying into fusion until it's confirmed, if at all, but people acted kind of rear end in a top hat-y about the idea of Fairies ever since Sylveon (Or even months before its debut? I forget...), and the typing has become a thing. THEN AGAIN, if Fusion IS a thing, you'd think there would be a huge leak on 2ch about it and other details about Sun and Moon.

Typhlosion has the exact same base stats as Charizard and aside from the Normal moves everything gets, it has like one non-Fire move. Extrasensory. By breeding with a Vulpix father. It's not as bad as Meganium but it's so far from good it's actually unbelievable.
