it's a fan mock-up to the guy's credit, they also made a mock-up showing closer to what it likely will really be like unfortunately they still left the "f1, f2" labels on there for some reason. it should show those only when you hold the Fn key. then when you hold Cmd or something it shows app-specific stuff.

a while ago apple patented a taptic keyboard. maybe that tech went into this. although i kind of doubt it because on the trackpads there's a lot of structure to make sure the "tap" is distributed throughout the trackpad. there doesn't look like enough room to put that in the OLED bar. http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2015/03/apple-continues-their-work-on-a-virtual-keyboard-for-the-imac.html

a touch strip instead of fn keys is an insanely terrible idea and if they actually implement it Tim Cook should be publicly executed

I use function keys because I'm not a retard and know what keyboard shortcuts are... Control and alt-whatever is more popular but whatever.
|
# ? Jun 10, 2016 08:14 |

i use some function keys, but the biggest lomarf of the touch strip is not being able to fondle your way to the correct key without looking at the keyboard

hopefully they will also have some gestures on it, like slide on the left area to control brightness, slide on right to control volume. then it doesn't require accuracy.
