Dying as a hero is practice. Also it completely eliminates people bitching about team comp and sometimes hilarious poo poo happens like a Gibraltar game I just had where we ended up with 4 Zaryas, a D.Va and a Mercy.

but you can do that in a regular game and actually get real practice by playing it for a while instead of randomly, occasionally, if the game lets you? who cares if pubbies complain about you. it's not good practice to play as something for one life like once or twice an hour

In some ways it helps you identify the heroes that you even WANT to properly practice for a longer time. When I'm doing premade groups, I have a tendency to kind of forget about 2/3 of the heroes cast, even if the group is not majorly tryhard.

Chances are the other people are terrible at their respective heroes so you tend to accomplish more even on heroes you are garbage with. When I'm playing a normal game and just dying and dying as Tracer it's not fun at all. With random heroes it just changes to a new hero if I'm terrible and die so there's no getting frustrated.

I have definitely become a lot better with heroes I wouldn't normally play while playing the random brawl. It also made me realize that I really like playing as Zarya once I got the hang of it.

The idea is that in the mystery hero brawl, most of the other players are also on heroes they are sub-par on most of the time, so it won't be quite as tough as trying to learn new heroes while fighting against career Genji's or Widowmakers in Quick Play.

In theory, anyway

It's hard to soar with the eagles when you work with Turkeys!!

I like the random brawl because it results in matchups you normally don't see and it's hilarious to watch someone who only plays Mcree try to figure out Symetra. I get to play things I normally wouldn't against people who won't immediately faceroll me because they're playing characters they're less comfortable with too. Although the way ults work, the team that lucks into something won't die a lot as usually has a huge advantage.

It's often frustrating but it makes for an interesting change of pace from normal matches.

They should probably make the ult charge (or at least a part of it) carry over to the next hero.

I swear pubby teammates just completely ignore the point until overtime starts.

Hanzo is a legit pub pick when Hanzo uses his sonic arrow in chokepoints and contests the objective in overtime with his wallrun!!

Hmm i remember a while back i wanted more rocket dmg from Pharah on direct hits. After successfully ambushing snipers and direct hitting them twice, and them not dying. I stand by that. Its ridiculous to shoot them point blank and have them still get away. She should be easy to snipe and have a more punishing presence with her rockets.

Also my theory remains reinforced every day!

Pharah rocket direct hit does 120 damage though.

Please bitches. If nothing else I am a gentleman
If you directly hit them with 2 rockets they are dead. 120 x 2 = pretty much half the cast.

If i've got the drop on a 200 health class I'll use the first rocket to bounce them into my second rather than trying for two direct hits.

Then I'm getting drat close and the hit detection has me missing but on their model. I'll swoop in from above hit them directly twice and they'll ninja away or some such. Its SO frustrating because they are obviously outflanked, yet can still turn and two shot me with Widow.

Mystery Heroes brawl is also fun because it introduces a weird new strategy. Really useful heroes tend to play more conservatively because they don't want to lose them. And X for 1 trades can be completely worth it if you remove their Mercy, Widow, sometimes Bastion, etc. Kill off their medics and snipers and there's a very good chance they're not coming back.

If he had conc mine up and air strafed into the wall right about where it would land possibly, however the extra rocket actually builds more ulty for the Phara overall ontop of being style points.

I've only run into a few grumps and they weren't nearly as toxic as the worst I've run into in solo queue. Or as bad as the last bunch of pages in this thread have been (in fact, most discord goons seem to only post in thread very occasionally). Goons are like pubbies, the vast majority of them are actually pretty okay and the horror stories are more of an issue of selection bias. Except unlike pubbies, everyone's already agreed to team up by the nature of the premade group so you don't need a chat icebreaker like you do in solo queue.

Basically, assume goons are as bad as pubbies but odds are so are you so just be cool to people.

Yeah but now instead of "can I do it?" it becomes "maybe I can do it"

The reward is so much higher that it's worth tolerating dumber risks.

I want two settings in custom matches:

1) Make heroes constantly take damage when touching the ground.
2) Disable Widowmaker's zoom in ability.

Then I could set up a 6v6 Widow fight with 0 cooldowns where the ground is lava, forcing everyone to constantly hook around like Spider-man with an assault rifle.
