Hyperlynx posted:Well, also, doesn't snuffing out flame (with your mouth or otherwise) work because you're depriving the fire of oxygen? That would not work if the burning substance has an oxidiser as well as the fuel... Sparklers have a small amount of oxidiser so if you dump a lit sparkler in water it'll be snuffed out but if you wrap it in tape it'll hold the oxygen it releases and keep burning underwater. I guess that guy's party trick might have worked if he'd kept his mouth closed* but the problem with that is that sparklers burn at temperatures from 1000 degrees celsius upwards so good luck putting that in your mouth and not screaming and letting in more oxygen. There's videos online of people using sparklers to weld metal which should be a clue that this is not something you want touching any part of your body, let alone shoving it against your tongue and soft palate. The Children of Poseidon nutters (the guys who did they cactus bodyslam video) did a video where a guy holds a sparkler between two fingers, ziplocks the fingers together so he can't drop the sparkler and then lights it and lets it burn all the way down and he actually seems somewhat surprised that his fingers get burned so deeply. The CoP guys are shitheads so I'm not going to link the video and give them any extra views but if you're interested you can google it really easily. * I am not a fireworksologist so I could be wrong

It's also amazing to see dudes realize that the shower of sparks from lit fuses/fireworks is actually really drat hot.

Normally with fire eating, you close your mouth (without letting your mouth or lips actually touch anything hot) and exhale hard so the rush of carbon dioxide from your lungs snuffs out the flame. A sparkler has oxidizer and a very high burning temperature, so you're gonna need some Superman lungs to blow it out. It doesn't help that it looks like he bit down on the sparkler and caused the burning end to fall into his mouth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p175i5w5liU

They've actually come to Australia outside of the one clip of the guy screaming "I DO NOT CONSENT" at a cop; a friend of my sister works as a Police Officer and told me about how there had been a dude who had worked with the Melbourne Metropolitan railway services (Metro) who kept a master key for the switchboxes after he had been let go. The guy was basically holding the key for ransom unless he got a couple of million in silver and pulling the usual sovereign citizen poo poo.. Mind you this is only broad strokes as I haven't talked to my sisters friend in ages so I'll have to ask him about more of the details.

My favorite ones are probably the ones involving flaming liquid like lighter fluid, like the "Kick the flaming ball" stunt at 5:30. They really seem to just think that all the liquid is going to stay on the object, rather than coming off while still burning.

Aren't there incredibly few murders of police on the job relative to the number of cops out there? Like in 2013 it was 33 cops shot to death out of hundreds of thousands of sworn officers.
