IIRC from the book, the astronaut was supposed to hang out in the capsule (with the door closed) until the helicopter got there to pick up the floating capsule. In this case the door was opened before the helicopter got there and Grissom had to bail out to avoid sinking with it. It was suggested that he panicked and blew the door early to get out because he thought the capsule was sinking. He says he doesn't know why the door blew early.

It's unlikely he intentionally triggered it, because everyone else who blew the hatch got a huge bruise on their hand (or wrist?) and Grissom didn't have any such bruise. One theory I read suggested that he might have accidentally triggered the hatch with his helmet.

Can someone find the strip where Roast Beef is worried that people are judging him for his fast food order? When the strip search can't do something, it's like being tied down and watching your dad get beat up.

From context it appears to refer to sleeping for 36 hours, which might cause one to completely miss one's mother's birthday.
