Why would any tech firm have an interest in writing backup government software for states at enough risk of failure that they see having such a thing as advantageous while also being humble and cautious enough to admit a need for it? That's a very niche market.

According Yuds, 'government is relatively simple'. I'm not going to try to engage with any of the other extraneous bullshit (because that's what it is). How shockingly misinformed do you have to be to realize that governing a country is really, really loving hard. Governing people is not relatively simple - it is mind boggling complex. Imagine asking every goon on the forum what they'd like to see happen most in their country, right now. Now imagine you have to do for millionsof people, all of whom have tremendously different levels of education, interest, and beliefs. NRx can't even formulate a complete and agreed upon a semi-articulate philosophy amongst a very small group of fat,pasty, balding nerds, and yet Yuds wants to try to simplify actually running a goddamn country into the terms of a computer program. Oh my god, what I'd give just to see what world Yuds apparently lives in. He can't even govern his own bulging waistline, yet he wants to design software that can somehow control millions of people.

Hey now, some of us are gainfully employed and write fanfic  Honestly, the most embarrassing part about Yud is how bad his fanfic is. Even by the "first draft of trashy genre fiction" standards of fanfiction, it's unpleasant. Sure, he doesn't gently caress up his grammar or spelling, but that's not too high a bar even for fanfiction. But it's preachy about broken morals, if you're even slightly worldly (i.e. not a loving teenager) the main character reads as an unsympathetic rear end in a top hat, and it's interminably long and loses steam towards the end. Yud needs empathy and an editor to ever have any hope of being a decent fiction writer. Which is why, every time I remember HPMOR is the most-reviewed work on Fanfiction.net, I die a little inside.
