Phi230 posted:Well technically all those things are directly referenced in the bible, pretty much. The short bits of misogyny that appears in the unambiguously Paul-authored letters are probably later insertions, and the longer passages are in letters that weren't written by Paul, just in his name in the 2nd or 3rd century. Paul was wacky and pro-celibacy and a lot of other weird poo poo, but credit where it's due: the best evidence is that he treated women as equals in a religious context. (He refers to traveling with women to set up all of the various churches, he mentions without comment a bunch of women in major leadership positions, etc.)

I'm glad Trump is going to be at his most professorial while reciting the litany of easily disproven 30 year old Clinton smears. Looks like his base is still on board quote:"We've been lied to for so long " said Glenda, a 42-year-old bartender. "So what, he doesn't want Muslims, per se, that are terrorists in the country? Then I'm glad he's saying it because I don't want them in there either."

This is Romney all over again, only sped up 5x and bottoming out in May. And what's the lesson these idiots will take from it? Who cares, they'll gently caress up again in 2020. At this point, I'm waiting for them to doom 2018 somehow.

So "Paul's misrepresentation as a misogynist" is still what is featured in the Bible as of today so my point still holds some water. Its not like there wasn't any other misogyny in the Bible, just gotta re-use Leviticus or Augustine

I think Trump, if he sticks to the script, can come out on top in all this so long as, immediately following the speech, he doesn't do something like flee the country for a week to cut the ribbon on a golf course and give a rambling speech on Brexit, leaving the entirety of his response to HRC taking his speech apart to an understaffed and disorganized mess of a campaign. Even if this unlikely scenario were to play out, I'm sure he wouldn't inform his staff to double and triple down on the positions he staked out, no matter what response they may be facing. If he can avoid these two things, I think he'll be fine
